I've actually decided against it now - After further research, I'm looking at getting a mac mini M2 with the 512 SSD. The cost of that along with a
Dell UltraSharp U2723QE monitor, is a lot less than even the current iMacs - Let alone whatever comes next.
I dont need raw power - Just something that will last and last and plod on, like my current 2009 iMac has... Only reason I'm thinking of replacing it really, is that Im getting 'End Of Life' messages for things like chrome etc, where they wont be supporting the 'High Sierra' 10.13.6 OS anymore with further updates (Which is the most up to date OS my imac can use)
Plus its slowed down of course... Also, it makes sense to not wait until it dies completely - That way I still have access to see my current settings etc, for setting up the new one to behave in exactly the same way etc...
But the mac mini is an M2 so that's better than an M1, and I already have a mouse and keyboard, so no point in getting them again, just for a 'purdy color' & a fingerprint Scanner for security, when its only me using it...
Doing further research, I discover that I can also get £150 off the mini, if I buy it through the apple store on amazon, as opposed to the 'apple' apple store itself...
I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but that's the direction Im now heading in - Plus I love the idea that it supports 2 screens as my mac sits directly below a 55inch LG QNED TV, so I can use that with it as well. Plus a single USB C cable to deal with connecting to the Dell monitor, which in itself, contains a range of ports that are more varied than the mac mini... See Pic:

I'm still very much in the planning stage atm. I'm not so worried about the cost, or 'saving money' as I am about getting the right thing for me, that will last a good few years, like my old one did... I dont wanna do something then think 'Wish Id just got another iMac' - But I think this monitor & M2 mac Mini solution, may well be a better solution long-term...
If anyone sees any potential failings in my plan - Please let me know - I'm open to constructive advice, but please - No 'Dont buy a mac, get a PC posts' I have a very powerful PC already. I want another mac to replace my old one - So I'm getting a mac - & I dont need the portability of a macbook either
