So not giving everything away free actually works as a business model. Affiliates are happy to refer for 5%. Seems like a win win for content producers, website owners and affiliates.
The whole point of these fan based platforms is the models themselves are influencers who have their own fan base from social media. Refer the model to the platform and they will bring the customers who will spend money. Affiliates referring individual customers is much less important.

this really gave me a chuckle - after all these years where completely unrealistic 50% or more were demanded, people would settle now for 5% cause the other business died (I wonder why) and OF obviously makes hardcore cash.

I agree... people will complain about cam companies etc paying out 20% but will work for 5% lol

It's more like referring an affiliate than referring a sale - Good affiliates at that - These girls (and guys) are making good money...

exactly this...
refer a model who has 1000 fans every day or try to refer 1000 new fans to the site...
It obviously works & as Eddy says, it´s like referring an affiliate "with sales" to the site rather than the sale

Yup, 5% of something is better than 50% of nothing as they say. The fact that OF is making hardcore cash is probably an eye-opener for those whose business model is to give content away free. It seems that people will pay for the right content and everyone makes bank. Twitter is full of models pushing OF. One, who is not huge by any means, was celebrating hitting 500 subscribers recently at $9.99 a month.

I know one with 2000 fans at $15 a month that only has one arm...
I feel like the current referral business model is fair for all involved and genius, especially if you have the gift of gab. Get yourself a nice stable of earners, nurture it and you're golden.

Made me laugh as well.
A friend of mine told me that to make good money on OF you have to be online all the time. So when you get a reply to a post of Social Media you can respond immediately. Or you have to be really well known. It doesn't work if posts are automated, replies to your posts are ignored or answered a day later.
Imagine how good the promotion, the content has to be and how much traffic you need to get to accumulate 1,000 members.
Your friend lied. But yes, when your job is social influencer or social model, you tend to socialize more to make more money. It's not for the socially lazy. It's a job. It's called onlyfans, not onlysurfers. They are paying for intimacy, not auto-blog posts.

I can see how that works with most things. But to do well you either have to have a killer product, a lot of followers or work it most of the time. Plus churn out endless content to make sure there's always something new.
With the decline of the studios, this is a way for girls to make some money otherwise they have little. But think about it. How many will buy porn today, how much will they, how spend big a market is there for self-shot videos by boyfriends or camera on a tripod, how many girls are doing it?
Now deduct a few big earners taking the lions share.
This type of material is easy to shoot, it's easy to shoot girls promoting the scenes they're on. It's easy to get someone to sit on social media all day long or for a few hours every day. So why is it only being done now? Why didn't someone think of it before because all OF supplies is a website platform, something we can all create.
It was good to kick out affiliates with them taking so much and demanding so much, this has obviously increased the size of the pot. But if it's such a great idea we would have come up with it before.
Name one solo girl site that has made big money. Now think of all the sites that barely made a profit.
We devastated the porn industry by giving affiliates 50% and every form of support we could think of. The only thing keeping sales on par with offline porn was the price of BW and the ability to give porn away. Once it dropped to prices low enough to make free porn the most dominant selling porn became less profitable than giving it away.
Since then everyone has lauded every new development to bring sales back, HD, 3D, VR and now models doing their own thing as a saviour of the industry. Nothing will save this industry while so many scrape a living giving it away.
Girls launching their own site, either themselves or programs doing it, are nothing new. How many earned enough so the girls could work them full time? Can you name one?
The reasons are clear, porn consumers want to see the action more than the girl. They want different girls doing their favourite thing.

So basically you hire 3 outsource employees to monitor your messages and reply to them in 8 hour shifts.
Shoot content in advance, etc.
