Yes, you pay the $7.50 a month and join the Discount Domain Club and you can get those $8 dollar renewals.
If you have one domain it's not worth it. Check out namebright.com, they are $8.53 per domain.Comment

If you take the free year of privacy and after the year is over, they charge you a good rate to keep it and you can't just select not to have it, you're locked into it and in order to transfer away a domain, you need to have login info to https://www.domainsbyproxy.com/ to be able to get the authorization number to get away which is a huge pain.Comment

i've decided to move from godaddy to namesilo cuz namesilo offers private registration FREE for life :D
no one can beat this offert so far.
all you need to do is to log into your godaddy, uncheck locked domain (if it's locked) click on domain, copy domain code and start transfer on namesilo and paste code there.
i've paid $8. best to move domain is at the very end of domain expiration time cuz after move you get one year free.
godaddy pissed me off with thei $17 price for my .org domain, i lost my patience then.
some1 also recommend to register new domain with godaddy with promo codes ($1-3) and after a year move to namesilo - also good tactics. i've bought in last days 4 domains cheapest one for $1 most expensive $3 and after a year i'll move them all for $8 to name silo :DPure Japan japanese babes blogComment

Very easy, I 've been with Godaddy for over 10 years now I believe, I too hated it when I get auto-renewed for $15 , I started moving my domains to this guys and to be honest with you, it's been super easy. I probably still have a good 40/50 domains over at Godaddy but i do plan on moving them all out.
Support has been good too. Rates are as followed:
Domain Registration $9.50 Free forwarding, Free stealth, Free email forwarding, Free parking.
Domain Renewal $9.25 Watch out for high renewal rates at other companies.
Domain Transfer $9.50 Includes one year domain renewal.
Domain Privacy $2.00 Protect your privacy, reduce spam and fraud.
If you need help moving your domains, hit me up on icq. Once you do a couple it's a piece of cake after that

For me, Namesilo is where its at, Mutt. You can e-mail godaddy support and ask them for a spreadsheet of all your authorization codes. Then use that as you transfer. I've transferred domains on or past the renewal date. It is very easy.
I used to get e-mails and then calls from godaddy asking if all was ok. I told them flat out why I'm bailing on their sorry asses. They stopped calling me.
They've been switching 1 year renewals to 2 year renewals on us. I don't like the sleaze factor in that. Fuck them. And customer service has been handed over to people reading from customer service manuals. Hard to find a knowledgeable person there anymore. For us anyway.Comment
