If this is spun correctly, you get the additional traffic to the new site.
Shane, only you potentially know what is really going on in this case.
Do your best to keep an eye on the lawyers. I hope you have written stipulation that any mention of Mellisa Midwest requires them to give you first right to review. If they ever attempt to release a statement like you just did - honest to God, you need to bitch slap them and in writing tell them what I just told you.
