no but they know theres a shitload of cheap sites on .info
.info was/is haven for spammers so you end up getting a combination of email spam with .info , seo spam with .info , comment spam etc a surfer tends to notice this.

i think the idea was if they price high you will get more quality sites, thus a surfer thinks "quality" when he see's .xxx Cheap domains means alot of se spam and circle jerks because you only need to make $5 to pay for the domain.
