Outside of $300 being chump change, you can get a decent tax attorney to represent her and they will get them to drop the penalties since she never received the letters. However, that would cost about $2,000 or so for a good one and perhaps $800 for a shitty one.

So if it was something like $8000 in penalties it would be worth it...
