1) It's crazy cheap. I have just about everything here than you guys have back there, except a fast internet connection. And it's 1/4 less.

It's a niche market and we have it all to ourselves. And don't knock the fat Asian ones, I own that market with no competition in the English market.

4) You can serve up street justice if you need to, with little recourse. Won't hesitate to beat another foreigner down with a pipe or a brick, because when the cops come and it's a foreigner or foreigner issue, there isn't a problem. Whoever speaks the most Thai and knows how to deal with the police, wins.

5) The supply of pussy, with bodies of any size, is so vast you could not fuck 1% of them if you fucked 20 a day for the rest of your life.

6) If you get a speeding ticket (or a ticket of any kind), it cost about $6 USD and they can't ticket you again for 7 days. So in a nutshell, you can do ANYTHING YOU WANT on the road for the next 7 days. Then pay $6 again and get another 7 days and so on. This kicks total ass.

7) Bangkok is the hub for all of Asia. I can cheaply travel all over Asia, and quickly. Going to Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, China, Hong Kong... it's almost as easy quick and easy as gong to dinner.

8) I get DAILY Thai massages. It costs about $6 (seems to be the magic number here). Maybe $7.50 after I tip her. Sometimes I get two hot young girls at a time and splurge for a 2 hour oil massage... $20 bucks.

9) It's different than everything I was raised to know. Every day is something new. A different way of doing things, different culture, different language, and different smells and tastes. My brain is always stimulated and I'm always learning something new. Hopping around Asia makes me learn many languages along with other cultures and ways of doing things. I live in a constant state of learning. I love that.

Violence and crime is everywhere in the world. I'd rather take my chances here where I know the score than deal with the red tape BS and power hungry cops back in the USA. I prefer to be on my own in an environment that lets me be, with rules that while may be somewhat unfair to foreigners, they also let you get away with a lot of shit and allow you to do whatever you pretty much want, within reason. So long as you don't cause problems for the locals, you're a king here. I'll take a little bit of 3rd world grit for that.

Besides, 10 more years in the direction the USA is heading and you guys are not going to be much better off. As your currency devalues, jobs as lost, homes are lost, businesses and banks crumble, there is only one way to go and that is down. Crime will continue to rise and it won't be long before you will wish you were here.

there is good and bad in every place. My father lived in Thailand for years. I have visited many times, never any real problems. Always had a good time. Its a physically beautiful country with an amazing history.

Maybe I see the bad more than the good.

It does ruffle my feathers when I read about Thailand being a utopia because it just isn't.

I have been fortunate in my travels to have had mostly positive experiences, in both 1st and 3rd world countries. In fact, I think I have been in more "unsettling" circumstances in 1st world countries than 3rd.

It all depends on how you look at it. Every country has its pros and cons, and it's just a matter of finding a place that suits you personally. Although you painted a pretty bleak picture, which is somewhat true, here's an example of one of the many benefits of living here...

Say you're driving on your motorcycle, and get pulled over for not wearing a helmet. Cop asks for your license, which you don't have, so then asks for your ID, which you again don't have. In response, the cop gives you a smile, says "$6 please", and after payment you're off on your way without worry. Try that in the US, and your bike gets impounded, you get hauled to the station for a bit, costs you a few hundred, etc.

yeah that would be nice. I've been stopped at an insurance check point, had insurance but didn't receive the updated insurance card yet. So the card I had showed a date that expired 2 days before. They don't care. I tell them I have insurance, it could be verified. They said if you can't get someone to bring you the new card before the tow truck arrives then tough shit. I had someone pulling up with my *updated* card to show them I had coverage but the tow truck was already there. Never mind the fact there was 5 other people who really didnt have insurance it could have towed instead and that it didn't hook me up yet, the asshole cop said it was too late. I'm showing the asshole the new card but he says " too late" and calls the tow truck over to tow me.

So I have my car towed, license plate taken off of it. The asshole cop tells me I can go get my plate that day, show proof of insurance so I wont have to pay the ticket at least, then I could go get my car back from the company that towed it. So I head straight to the traffic court to show proof, I wait for 3 hours for my number to come up. I go to the window and explain it to the lady and she says " on no, we never get the plates the same day, it usually takes 2 days before we get them". BUT, she says if you want to pay $150 for a new plate we can issue you a new one right now so you don't have to wait 2-3 days to get your car back. So lets see, wait 2-3 more days without a car, and have to come back and waste 3 more hours or buy a new plate now. So after being extorted, I pay the $150 for a new plate then I drive over to get the car from the *company* (term used lightly) who towed it. By the time I did all of this it was 4:30 and they had already closed. So I go back 8am the next day to get it. They charged me to tow it which was a couple hundred bucks and like $30 a day "storage". He had me down for 2 days, which the car wasn't even there for 24 hours much less "2" days. Whole days wasted a ton of my time and cost me about $400.

What a nightmare. So I agree, some places you deal with bullshit. But the moral of the story is now I make sure to have updated insurance cards in my car and never forget to replace them even if it is only for a couple days. I try to not leave my self susceptible to having to deal with stupid bullshit like that by not putting myself in those situations.
