I wish I had some hands on experience to share with you guys on how to file a claim in small claims court, but seriously, the best chance to get your money back is to file a claim now before it's spent. I am pretty sure this is something that you can do on your own w/o the help of a lawyer, the investment natrually being your own time to research how to submit it and possibly travel expenses if you have to appear.
$1200 is kinda on the line of not being worth it, espcially if he's flushed it paying down debt or on some new electonic toy, but for all the others out there who may have lost more, or for those of you who just want to do it out of principal, the longer you guys wait the harder it will be. You can't get blood from a stone.. but maybe they can garnish his future wages.
