That's correct... I'm very sorry about this but StatsRemote doesn't work if NatNet is down
Fortunately this is very rare... hosting with them since 1998.Comment

If you have friendly trading partners, they should shoot ya a nice force to help ya get things going again. You could always do a quick traffic buy when things come back up to get your trades going again...Comment

I am very happy with their service it is solid but for those that say their sites or natnet's network has never been down or very little downtime for " X "amount of years , that must be a miracle , because I been with them for less than half year and this is my 4th downtime .....Last edited by webgurl; 11-19-2009, 08:14 PM.Comment

No biggie, stuff happens.... I'm sure NatNet will pull out all the stops to get things back up.
When I saw the connection problem, I went WTF is wrong with my computer/net connection now.. Some good news. This time it isn't a problem I have to tackle.
Was headed to my backup connection and my usual trouble shoot - glad i thought to stop by GFY first.Comment

"Do you hassle your $29.95/mo ISP for thousands of dollars in compensation when they go down for a couple of hours?" Rowan, yes i do, but that's a different issue.
It's not right for customers to pay lots of money monthly and not get what they paid for. I definitely think a partial reimbursement is not unreasonable for ALL their clients.

I guess my point was that the adult industry tends to have larger profit margins, so the cost of hosting is relatively small in comparison to income. And the host's own profit from you is a smaller percentage of that figure. So you can't really expect a host to be able to pay you 500% of your monthly fee as compensation for the $ you've lost for half a day's downtime. At some point the responsibility has to fall on the customer (eg with a hot spare at another host) because the host can only do so much, unless you want them to go broke..."Do you hassle your $29.95/mo ISP for thousands of dollars in compensation when they go down for a couple of hours?" Rowan, yes i do, but that's a different issue.

Just got out of a meeting with the Senior Staff and at this point everything is up and running normally. What will happen now is that they will coordinate with our Security Consultants and our hardware vendors to determine exactly what happened. I hope to have concrete answers by morning in the form of a post mortem.
Those that know me know that I am not the most technical person in the world but I am speculating that this was a cascading issue. I believe what started as a run-of-the-mill DDOS caused other issues that had to be diagnosed and resolved. This is why we have our hardware vendors engaged along with our Security Staff and Consultants right this second to make sure that we have shored up any outstanding issues and to make sure that something like this cannot happen again.
As I have always said, perfection is something that cannot be achieved in this business but it does not mean that we cannot strive for it everyday. It is very easy to look back on an issue and say "well if we had done this or this that would not have happened" but it is entirely another thing to be able to predict the future. What I will promise our customers is that we will learn from this and we will spend the time and money necessary to prevent it from happening again.
With the network being stable again, I am going to bow out of this thread now and get back to work. As always, my team and I will be available to any NationalNet customer that would like to discuss the issues of the day in more detail.
Again, thanks for your patience and we look forward to everyone getting back to what matters the most....trying to make some money!

Those numbers seem like bull. I know you are upset at another long natnet downtime, and yeah it totally sucks but if you really make 300.00 per hour and as Rowan said in an above post then it's your fault for having all your eggs in one basket. You should have backups at other hosts especially if you are pulling in that kind of loot.

As the saying goes, "shit happens". I've been in this business for over 10 and I can't even remember the number of places I've hosted but one thing I know for sure is NatNet's reliability and support has been far superior to any host we've ever worked with. We've hosted at NatNet for at least 3 years now so I can say with confidence they are a cut above!
The thing that always cracks me up when I see one of these threads is that 50% of those whining about NatNet being down have absolutely no interest in the situation and the other 50% are "ballers" that may possibly lose a sale or 2 during the outage. My

This is from how many days ago? There are soooo many factors that come into effect when running a successful hosting company. The fact that the CEO of the company cares enough to post here to keep you updates is in itself admirable!
Take it easy these guys are rarely down. Not to mention Tony is already feeling bad that the Falcons got beat up by the Giants this weekend =)
Let's move along now and put this in its proper place...THE PAST!
