Originally, I wanted to get Comcast phone service installed in my old house. When the tech came by, they tested the signal strength on my router and said that it was impossible to setup a phone line downstairs while the modem was upstairs because the signal was too weak. I would have had to set up my router downstairs, which would have been a major pain in the ass. Vonage's system works a little bit differently, and so does Magic Jack. It's not just a matter of having a signal because it's on the internet. You need a signal with strength.
