I'm pretty sure that Dave's job is pretty safe, and I only hope that Palin runs for Prez in 2012, since she will definitely throw a monkey wrench into any hopes that the Republican Party has to present themselves as a party that can be taken seriously on the National scene, yet alone win a National election.
I don't think Jeb Bush in 2016 could bring them back from that (although I am not counting him out for 2012 as the top or bottom of the GOP ticket either)...
Sarah Palin is a populist train wreck. There are plenty of uneducated redneck yokels and religious fanatics that will flock to her, and fawn over her, but once she is confronted with an intelligent alternative, either from the Republicans in the primary election, or Obama (or if he f*cks up in his first term - another Demo alternative), she will be crushed on so many levels that Richard Nixon, Strom Thurmond, Jerry Falwell, and even Ronald Reagan, will all turn over in their graves.
