My zango stats

Hello.

Few days ago i have put new htaccess wich dissalows surfers with zango toolbar installed view my site, i was redirecting them to the site where i tell them that they are infected and how to clean with Spybot S&D. I have put there additional counter, maybe it will be interesting for you how much of total traffic was infected. I only redirected by "user agent - zango", so stats can be not so accurate. Traffic source for my site: 95% SE, 5% other.

Total site traffic, look at thursday (friday is not over, lol)

(maybe some of you can post the images, i still don't have 30 posts so not allowed to post img urls)

So, even if it's not very accurate, still about 100 surfers from 6000 are infected with zango, and are totally worthless for you. That's almost 2% of total traffic, so, notionally talking, 2 sales of 100 goes to these thieves, and not you...

yeap its bad for sure. There was a big site owner on here said zango didn't take much traffic or something along those lines. So i setup a zango campaign and targeted his url. With in 4 hours there was something like 3600 people that had zango installed and visited his site.....

Do you guys use the same tactic, or just let the zango traffic flow through your sites?

I was thinking about first inform the surfers about zango inffection - and then (if he wants) let in to the site.. But i could'n accomplish that with htaccess. Any solutions?

Why bother? Zango would be stealing your sale anyways, why waste bandwidth on a surfer who would be buying but you'll get no credit for it.

What are everyones thoughts on that?

Actually i don't think it can hurt your google rankings. There is no way googlebot tries to simulate zango toolbar (by changing "USER AGENT") and see if you will redirect him (googlebot cannot access your .htaccess). It's the same like splitting users using IE and Firefox browsers to different layout pages. In the thread you provided people discuss a warning page (extra step), not a redirection of infected users (totally different issue)
About TGP - well it will kill 2% of your incoming traffic for sure, and your script will not see them. But if other TGP's are sending you zango infected traffic - it's the same like they were sending you hitbot army who doesn't buy anyway.

Maybe. But there is no guarantee that zango will not pop-up and not steal that surfer from me. I don't want these thieves earn any cent from me, I better just send surfers to freeware antispyware, avaliable to all.
