Actually the "good companies list" are the companies willing to take a stand and become part of this movement. If that results in increased business for their companies, good for them. Not clever advertising, but damn good marketing. As an affiliate, it would be nice to do business with companies that aren't going to allow disloyal competition, allowing certain affiliates or sites to generate sales using methods that would get me thrown out of the program. I would like to work with programs that are looking out for me, the affiliate, rather than looking out for only themselves and the amount of cash they have on hand to buy lap dances and beer for their "bros" at the next show.

If a site's whole model is for people to upload stolen content to it, and if the stolen content was removed the site would cease to exist, and this site makes money from upsells and advertisements, then the site is just as bad as the people posting the stolen content.

most people know that i'm as genuine as i can be. when talking about the issues i don't use fake nicks, i say it in my own voice just as i would in public. shit i may be wrong, but i don't really think so in this sense. i will probably gain some enemies. thats cool. to me it doesn't matter what the heck is in your sig, it matters what you write. i think i might ditch my sig for a while. thats how much it means to me. if you notice theres no cash program in there, just a link to a splashpage that i spray painted the new version of our network on as coming soon.

I have house, car, and health insurance payments, not too mention, the costs of running and owning a business, and still have money to eat, and afford to stay afloat.

Every penny I lose because I might oust a well known hosting company who is buddies with a well known sponsor or affiliate I do business with, hurts.

Im not a huge company with a shitload of employees, or money to burn because Im involved in something shady like zango, torrents, or stolen content.

heres something to consider....
I was just curious if shanesworld was hosting with mojohost, so i checked networksolutions and sure nuff..... hosted on mojohost.

I appreciate what your doing, but I hope you guys look into some of the shady practices Ive raised about them. Not trying to get on your badside, but this is exactly what Im talking about. Its not hard find something that you can disagree with someone on.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I have one company to add to the "bad business" list:

SERVAGE

Airek - you said "theft is theft" and so it applies to webhosts just the same. Servage sucks is that webhosting company that lures unaware webmasters into hosting with them by offering high bandwidth programs at a low cost. What webmasters do NOT know, is that if their traffic manages to grow to reach about 1% of the bandwidth they are entitled to, their account will be suspended, with all the sites and their traffic REDIRECTED to servage sucks. This is how Servage sucks grows their site - they steal you hard earned traffic. As soon as you reach the point at which it is worth their while, they will suspend your account and steal all your traffic.

theft is a theft - the theft of traffic performed by Servage is one of those that is extremely coward. It's a blow below your waste, leaving you unprepared and helpless, without warning using some random (high resources use" warning. If you are a hardworking webmasters who invested a lot of time and money building traffic to your site, when the day comes for you to harvest, you will be left empty handed and servage sucks will collect for your efforts. However for you it not only means that they got what should be yours, for you it also means that all you have strived for is now gone. Your website, your traffic - all lost. Gone. You have to start from scratch...

Servage is a dangerous company and I would like to appeal to all webmasters to join forces and stop them from hurting any more innocent people's business.

i'm about the fairest person there is. thats normally what gets me into problems, i trust everyone until i get fucked over.

Here is my free 2 cents worth...

I just read all 5 pages of this. 3 of the pages were nothing more than bashing each other and a total waste. If your gonna bash each other, start your own thread. This thread was started with a damn good idea this industry needs.

I agree with everyone else that their needs to be some way to investigate who goes on the good or bad list. If not, then this is going to become a joke. If you want to put someone on the shit list, you must provide 100% proof to backup your claim.

I think their should be a vote on who goes on each list. Naturally, their would need to be safe guards in place so the ballot box doesn't get stuffed. I also think the 'voting' can only be done by webmasters. We deal with these companies daily. Only we know who is good and bad. If surfers are involved, then their will be abuse to this process.

Anyway, this is a good idea. I hope it happens.
