They really were working on it from day one.
You know the fucking mentality in this industry is amazing.
When I noticed what was happening with zango and my ifriends traffic, right away I contacted Clickcash. I provided them with video and screen shots of what was happening. The next day they had a company wide meeting to go over this problem. They didn't delete the accounts right away, they investigated what could be done to fix the problem long term. I spoke with them several times while this was happening and gave them feedback from an affiliate stand point.
When I first contacted Lars it was shortly after I made the first couple post on GFY. Way before AFF admitted to doing it. I basically got all of the same excuses that have been posted by them since then. Lars seems to be VERY worried about sexsearch. He can't stop because sexsearch would get all of this traffic, etc. I mentioned why not sue and protect his domains, he said no it would be too expensive to sue. All the same shit everyone has seen them say here. The only contact I had with Lars since then was him sending me urls of other sites that were using zango.
Amazing how the two different companies handled the same problem. I am not trying to bash AFF to make ClickCash look good. I think everyone here can form their on opinion from the facts, I am just explaining exactly what happened. If I would have never mentioned this no one would have known how ClickCash handled the zango situation. It is amazing that AFF does contest threads and throws parties and uses scumware and people still think they are cool. ClickCash doesn't buy you any drinks, throws parties, etc. but at least they did the right thing.

I find it funny that in this industry if a person does something to help the industry he/she gets bashed, called names and whatever else while the ones supporting the shit that makes us look bad/steals from us is praised like a god.. Fucking pathetic if you ask me. In my book Will is, as many say, top notch. At least he's trying to do something and has the balls to do it publicly without worry of what others will think of him.

Will is certainly the most recognizable leader in the fight against Zango. Sure he may have some personal interest vested in it, but in reality we all do. Lets face it, none of use would care about this nearly as much if it weren't stealing our profits. We really need to get behind him and do what we can to call people out and at least put a dent in Zango's success.Comment

I'm not saying you have another agenda besides stopping people from taking money from you. The message was to those saying your motivation was money, I was simply pointing out that our whole reason for being here is money.
I'm not trying to slam on you bro. As you can see by my sig, I've been putting in time building an maintaining this app to remove zango. I've also dropped the .htaccess on all my sites. I am against zango too, for the same reasons, I dont want those fucks eating up my sales, or stealing sales from others.
I applaud what you're doing here, and it takes a lot of balls to call out someone as big as Lars and you're doing it, and it's making a difference. Keep up the good work.Comment

Thanks, too bad sexsearch or some of the other sites using zango wont address the problem. Lars put the spot light on him when he admitted to it and then started insulting people... did he expect us not to get mad and reply back like we did?

IMO, as an AFFILIATE that gets paid per the free signup, I would rather a company double bill it clients instead of accepting spyware. Accepting spyware cost me money because it steals sales and traffic from me. Double billing their own clients only hurts them and their merchant account.
Two totally different things and both are bad, but you asked what's worse and as an AFFILIATE I answered your question.

I was looking at it from an industry point of view and not from an affiliate point of view.
A good example is Xpics. They were absolutely phenomenal for affiliates. Alot of people made insane amounts of money thanks to their dirty tactics. While they made affiliates a ton of money their actions changed our industry forever. I would have to say abusing someone's credit card is much worse than the whole spyware debate.Comment

Again thanks for coming in my thread about zango to post how 2 years ago you signed up to ifriends and noticed a mysterious charge. This is a little off topic for this thread, but either way it is good that this thread continues to get bumped so people can see that ClickCash is another site that does not support spyware.
Back to your comments, Yes I have signed up to ifriends in the past. Obviously you missed where they charge $6.95 a month for their VIP membership. This is a prechecked box, it is no different then cross sales. I am sure you do not think cross sales are a good thing either.
If a company was making fradulant charges on their member's credit cards don't you think they would have lost their merchant account by now and not be going on their 10th year? I am not like most people here or in this industry, you wouldn't see something like that happening from me. If Lars continued to use zango I wouldn't have anything to say to him regardless if he bought me drinks or gave me free shit. If he stopped using zango I would be friendly to him but you would see any man love. I can't be bought off like most people and I don't speak just to hear myself talk.

Arguably, what is worse in both cases than the activity in question, is that these and other activities like them are carried out with the knowledge of most of the webmaster community and deemed acceptable by many in the industry. That acceptance gives a green light, not only to the current scam-of-the-month, but to the next one and the one after that.
No such activities are sustainable for long, they all run their course and we move on. But our business environment becomes tougher each time, whether because we get visited with new legislation, stricter rules from someone like Visa, or simply because we burn out another army of potentially long-term customers.
Hoping to see the day when cowboys of every flavor are relegated to the fringes of this business instead of being planted firmly at its core, is not abstract idealism. It is because each and every one, from the sponsors who run a scam, to individual affiliates who support such sponsors, to all those who are not directly involved but stay silent, cost us money. We collectively pay for years for the extra profits that relatively few enjoy for a short while.Comment
