Best Business for a good salesman ?
I am currently a sub contractor doing door to door sales for Comcase. I make in the range of $1,000 - $1,500 per week doing this in Indianapolis.
I am looking for a profession where my sales skills would come in to play. I do have a marketing background as well but my strong point is selling whether face to face (in small groups - haven't done any large sales presentations yet) or over the phone. Some of the programs I am considering is Send Out Cards and Pre Paid Legal ... I do have a ref code and would be glad to tell anyone else about Send Out Cards ... It's a great program, but yet to start with Pre Paid Legal. Does anyone out there have any experience in this area ? The cable sales business is too volatile. One week I can make $2500 and the next week I can make $800 - Rules change constantly, and you are at the mercy of either the contractor or Comcast and their CONSTANT rule changes and pay scale adjustments. I want something stable to start diversifying with. My present plans are to diversify with Pre Paid Legal and SOC ... If anyone has any other suggestions write me - I prefer programs where you don't have to put money out up front but as you can see by the programs I use if I believe in them I will spend that up front money if it is reasonable. P.S. I do also plan on doing adult again - for people who haven't been in this business long I give you one solid piece of advice. Diversify, trust me .... Off to work, gl all ...

Isn't this basically how all commission based sales jobs are (shit...adult biz included)? I know selling new/used cars in College it was the same thing.

Yes ... Very True .. Which is why I am looking for diversification. It isn't the income swing volatility that bothers me. It is the constant rule changes that are imposed, commission rates that are changed ... and the core audience they are seeking new subscribers from that changes periodically. Also the areas we are allowed to work .. The list goes on. It is not a stable profession and I have traveled the COUNTRY (8 states I worked in, lived in hotels in, etc) to continue doing this. I am not willing to move again if this contract falls apart so I need to prepare myself as I see it happening before summer.

It is not what the average sales rep does (far from!) but it is what I do. It takes a certain personality type to be able to handle this job though, and learning to be thick skinned is probably the most important part of this particular business.

http://www.cabl.com if anyone is interested in seeing if sub contracting jobs in the cable industry are in their area - I used it religously when system hopping.
