Small digital camera???

I had the older version of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T90 and I really liked it as it fired up quickly. A friends child just dropped my other cybershot and now the lenz won't retract or focus. It is only year old or so but the size is not good for going out. I want something small and fast for the odd facebook pic, clubbing, etc.

Sidenote - the megapixels has really shot up. The old cybershot was 5, i think and this one is 8. something as it is worn off and the new ones are 12mp.

Here's an ultra compact Sony: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830179195

I really like Canon, here's a similar one from them: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830179195

I have something like this for bars/parties/clubs etc: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830120327

It's pretty small, real quick to turn on. Sometimes it makes me wait a couple seconds between shots which can be annoying. The first canon I posted should be quicker tho.

I am looking for another as well and rely on input from others.

My biggest complaint with most of the point and shoots I have dealt with is that is you use the red-eye reduction feature it takes 5 seconds between the time you push the button and the time it actually takes the pic. That will not work for me.

What is your experience with these as far as that is concerned?

With the model I have, there can be a couple seconds delay between pushing the button and the camera taking the picture. It's rare though. I just did 100 photos on Saturday at a wedding and it only happened once. The model in the link below should be quicker though.

*** I posted the wrong link for the canon (pasted the sony link twice), here is the one I meant to post: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830120329

What do they call the time from when you press the button to when the picture is actually taken? My cannon takes like 1.5 seconds and it's really annoying.

I'm not a photographer but I think it's called "shutter delay" or "shutter lag"

Here's the whole "Ultra Compact" section at newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=Ultra-Compact

You could always browse through that and check out the reviews, I'm not sure the price range you guys are looking for.

I just pointed out a couple of inexpensive ultra compacts, I have a cheap one for bars/parties/etc so if it gets lost or stolen it's not too big of a loss.

I will have to put up a vote for the Power Shot line as well. I have had several and Canon just seems to really have a good grasp of the point and shoot market.

I just picked up a Canon G10 this week and it is absolutely awesome but it is bulky and a bit on the heavy side. The shots however are amazing.
