...and tells me that he's doing really good with his stuff. He says that it is mostly due to the people that helped him in the beginning for nothing in return.

We start talking about how these people that help you in the beginning are important in learning stuff.

He decides to drop US$ 3000 to do random things for the people that helped him with the sole condition that I don't reveal who he is. He says it will encourage people to be kind to others randomly.

Two days later, he sends me a list of things to do. I look at it and remind him that it might not be such a good idea to just do things that he thinks they need and that we should ask them first. He says that he is aware of that and wants to go forward with the plan.

What are the results of the experiment?

Over half of the people that were to receive freebies, whether they needed them or not, totally ignored me when I contacted them with something nearly finished and told them all of this. It is like most of you were totally freaked out by this random act of kindness from this client. They didn't even want to see them. It was almost as if they were afraid of owing something to someone when the fact is that they were being repaid.

Again, I am fully aware that giving people free things (logos, FHGs, banners, etc.) that you don't know if they need is a bit foolish, but I think that it is even worse that someone tries to give you a thank you for helping out and you don't even want to open the package.

For those of you who just ignored me (and him!), please know that I did not charge my client for the stuff he wanted to give you. Your total indifference was absorbed by us.

I am still amazed at how many people just blocked me from ICQ or never answered emails. Is it that hard to believe that someone in this business wants to do something nice for you?

Weird - I do this quite a bit- but not out of nowhere... Usually with bulk orders though when you can throw an easy extra in I do it just to assure utmost satisfaction on my client's end. Makes them want to pay me and keep doing so.

Odd to think people wont take free adverts. Especially odd to hear some of them blocked you.

That sounds about right. This industry is filled with scumbags..and believe it or not, some really nice people also. And there's a flip-side to your coin. I've helped countless people with not even so much as a "thanks" from most. The ones that did give thanks are actually closer business friends now than we would have ever been. So here's a big fat FUCK YOU to those others.

Nope. Not at all. Although I can easily see how it can be interpreted that way.

None of these works have been added to the pornfolio and they probably won't be.
