Boneprone, NBA fans, should Brandon Roy be in the MVP discussion?
That guy is really good.
Looks like he has killer instinct also.

You can put him in the discussion but I don't really see anyone that is within a mile of Lebron and Garnett.

You kidding me right?
Why, Cause he had one 50 point game, and he has had a good week? Come on, you can't compare him to Lebron, Kobe, at this point. He will, and should however be a starter in the all star game... Give him a few more years, and he might be mentioned as a mvp candidate.

If Portland makes the playoffs in the top 5 slots and they make it to 7 games in the second round I could say... MVP discussion. The MVP award is a tricky one. It really isnt about the most points but who makes their team better as a whole.

D Wade won't be MVP because his team sucks. I do think he's a top 4 player though.
My top 3 is LeBron, Kobe and Garnett. And I'll still stick with my statement about LeBron (made it when he was a rookie), he is the next Jordon-like baller. There will never be another Jordon, just like there will never be another LeBron. But man, LeBron took his game to the next level and added the killer instinct this year. He's killing teams so he can sit out in the fourth. Granted they played a lot of losing teams early on, but still. Crazy defense, makes 80% at the line, boards, assists, points, steals, blocks. MVP for LeBron this year. Kobe got his out of the way. Between Garnett and LeBron, guaranteed! I need to watch more of Brandon Roy, I'll keep my eye on him over the next few weeks and let you know if he's worthy of the 5th spot in my top 5.

It will be between Lebron and Chris Paul most likely....
Wade averages the most turnovers in the league, Garnett has Pierce and Allen, and Kobe.. well the Lakers are lucky theyve only lost 3 games with as many close games and blown leads they had. |

I think it will wind up being between Lebron, Kobe, and CP3... depending on where their teams finish in the playoff race.

I didn't say he'd win it.
But I bet he is a top 5 finisher, year end. And clearly, that's in the discussion. He's much better than you guys think. He's without question a star in this league. I don't see many guards as completely capable as him, and I am serious. He isn't Kobe or Lebron, I'm not asserting he is.

Of course, he is Portland.
If the season were to end right now though, the MVP would be Chris Paul. After that, Roy and Lebron. The calls for Garnett are absurd. He's suppose to play the way he is playing (he over matches just about everyone) and he plays with Pierce, who is the #1 Threat, ALWAYS. Thread of the day for sure, nice. ![]()

What Roy is doing is amazing. I would only choose Pierce or Kobe over Roy to have the ball with the clock winding down to nill......

He is by far the best finisher with his left of any player in the league, maybe history. Teams force him left and thats the way he wants to go. They force him right and thats his natural hand. They lay off and he is money from 20ft on.
Plus he is finally getting the superstar calls from the officials which goes along way. When he drives at the end of the game he has a good chance of getting the call, which he wasnt getting last year. First time Portland has had someone like that since Clyde. He deserves to start in the All Star game but he plays Kobe's postion and in a small market so it wont happen. But top 3 shooting guards in the league and top 10 player for sure. If he gets Portland to a top 4 seed in the West (54 wins plus) and keeps averaging 25+,6 and 6 he is definiately in the discussion, along with CP3, Lebron and Wade. The most impressive part about the 52 last night besides the 6 assists and only taking 27 shotswas the 0 turnovers. Very controlled player. RIP CITY! |

Kobe and Lebron are in a diff class.
Roy is awesome but he's not flashy. Doesnt make highlight reels. But before its said and done he'll be known as Mr. Clutch. Like a Jeter is to the Yankees. He's not a home run hitter player but he wins games and doesnt have the flash power dunks. I think he's already more clutch than Lebron is. But Lebron is a beast.. Kobe has the Rings, the flash, the attitude and the game. At this point in time Id like to build a team around Roy over all three of these guys. But in terms of this year's MVP, man its hard to out do Kobe. Roy is my favorite Player in the NBA, but that doesnt make him the best. But he should be in the mix of top players for sure. But not #1.. Or #2 or #3 for that matter. But one could argue that he could be a top 5 player in the NBA.. This year.

Im going to throw this out there.
BP4L power Ranking. 1 Kobe 2 Lebron 3 Chris Paul 4 Brandon Roy 5 -8 in no order: Mello, Wade, Duncan, Garnett And thats pretty generous becasue im a big Roy fan and have watched all his games. Not to mention he is my neighbor and lives a few houses up the street.

WHATTTTT! no way Roy is in the class with these ballers. are you guys high?
Nash Dwight Howard Billups Just to name a few on the "Power" rankings that should be higher than Roy And many others too in fact. He (this year) is maybe in the top 20 but nothing higher than that for sure. Now maybe he has what it takes when he develops a few more years, but this year NO WAY! Just as I said last year, Portland will not even make the play offs, they will be better than a year ago, but will still not make it, they do not have the depth or the stamina to make it far this year. ( and that is if they all stay healthy ..hmhmmm ODEN?) |

Sorry but Kobe isn't even close this year. Kobe has played about as bad as I can ever remember him playing at least so far this season. The Lakers although they have a good record have looked terrible to me for about the last 10 games at least.
There is no hunger, no fire, they don't have an edge to them. They started off good but now they look even softer then last year. I hope they can pull it together by the time the playoffs come around. |
