Have not seen much national news coverage on this. (PICS)

Yet since I live in the real NorCal and not that BS middle California that calls itself NorCal I can understand why there has been very little mention of it.

Um we are on fucking fire! And aside from that it is supposed to remain over the high 90's and low 100's temperature wise, the fucking winds are picking up in the early AM and through tomorrow. Oh and forecasts show a high possibility for thunder showers all week. In case you did not know, a single days worth (ok few hours) is what caused all this shit and all the damn fires. Most of the counties up here is on fire. Guess the smoke is finally getting down to Sacramento (200 plus miles south of us).

Well here is some pictures and the first is a satellite picture showing the smoke over Northern California.

Click my sig please. I need more monies to buy hoses.

** First, thanks for the pics, especially the first one, I was trying to find an aerial photo of the smoke earlier today but couldn't find.

I live in San Francisco and you can really see the haze for the past week, drowning out the sun - Also for the past couple days this week it has smelled like "campfire" everywhere in the city.

Yesterdays early wind blew out much of the smoke for well most of the day, its back. So we got to at least see the sky for a part of a day and then scary ass plumes of dense smoke rising out of assorted areas. Like some freaky ass Jurassic shit.

Today shit can hit the fan with high winds expected and incoming thunder storms. Then for full on shits and giggles like crap can not get any better check out these two small little tidbits.

1. There is fires surrounding an old copper mine with some of the most acidic if not the most acidic water in the US in treatment areas. If those get damaged it will leak contaminated water down several large streams and more than likely the Sacramento river. No worries though it just can kill fish nearly on contact due to amount of copper in it.

2. Any of you familiar with Shasta Dam and how fucking big it is? Well that damn has several outbuildings that assist in its control. Well guess what! They are under high fire risk this evening. Like fires are nearly right on top of that area and seem to be moving towards it. Naturally its mountainous and also forested so getting anything in and out is damn near impossible, unless you want to hike in at a super fucking steep grade, trust the ancient "fire roads" lol. Or just depend on aerial drops.

Oh by the way thanks paul.

I have been off and on a lot these past couple days and think that will remain that way. Been doing that scary fucking process of making a video tape and written inventory of household belongings and scanning in receipts.

I haven't heard anything about it over here in Miami. So it hasn't made the national news.

I finally saw a quick blurb and some video on ABC world news tonight.
Lack of multi million dollar houses purposely built in dangerous places apparently make this story less news worthy. Just really hoping that we do not loose a few more small towns like last time. They just never come back and its weird. Little town that has been there since the 1800's with its little fairs and stuff and own unique interests and then next day poof gone.

PS if I smell like campfire at Xbiz, seriously nothing I could do otay?

I was making a sandwich today and I swear in the time it took to get stuff out of fridge and onto bread and when I got to eat it. It went from a regular tuna fish sandwich to a smoked tuna sandwich but it was the bread that had a off smokey taste.

Aside from today masks are like nearly mandatory to go outside

The smoke finally started to clear over here in Reno today. The last few days we have had a Stage 2 Air Quality Alert which pretty much means stay inside. I think it was tuesday when you could barely see a 1/2 mile for all the smoke. Totally sucked but at least the fires were not here this time.

For most part we been in stage 4 or Very Unhealthy and our visibility has been well um I can sort of make out the sun but it does not hurt to look at it. Otherwise I can barely see over hills often and they are across street.

I feel for them, we go through that here in FL a lot.

But forest fires are needed for survival, it is a part of nature.

in fact, some species of trees even require fire to spread their seeds and some others to even germinate

if you live in the woods I would suggest having at least 300' of clear land around the perimeter of your house, (if it was a valuable house)

Oh I know we need forest fires every so often. We just get them every damn year and a lot has to do with bad clean up from past fires or storms. To much fuel laying on the ground that was never cleaned up, mostly on state land. Then each year they say this is bad we will do what we need to fix this and once fire is out its like eh what? oh we have no money for that. Just keep sending the water down south please.

Defensible space (300 foot buffer minimum) is actually the law here. Not really enforced and it just needs to be defensible and not clear land. Those that cut down all the tree's next to their houses end up dying in the heat of the summer. So really just keep branches away from house and all brush and such 300' away at a minimum. This also applies to in the cities and towns too. Also one of the main reasons why we very often loose very few houses unlike some cities (cough LA cough).

You see those two green blobs to the left hand side right in front of the flames. Those are big oak tree's.
