dumb question.. how to find what kind of memory

I'm going out to buy memory upgrade.. How do I find out what kind, without actually removing the stick from the bus.

there should be a black sticker on the side that says Service Tag #

go to dell's website, plug it in and you'll get upgrade options, use the specs on that RAM to find a better price.

Best way is if you can get the actual model #, type it in to google or google "ram finder" and use the model number to find it

download aida 32, install it and start it.
change to: memory settings-> memory brand

I don't have enough memory to install it, that's why I am going to ge upgrade.. I'm just taking one of the sticks out & bringing it with me..

I know I have 512 total between 2 256 sticks, so figure I'd buy 2 512 sticks unless they come with something like 1gig or 2 gig sticks

When you open it up to take the ram out you'll be able to find the number on the mother board and then find out what kind of ram it will take
