net neutrality USA Webmasters CLICK HERE NOW

Got this from Google It might be a little old and not today but you know what you all need to do this or we could lose the net as we see it today
write your congressman easily about this here http://www.itsournet.org/

From Googles CEO

There's a debate heating up in Washington, DC on something called "net neutrality" ? and the outcome of this debate may very well impact your business. Therefore, we are taking the unprecedented steps of calling your attention to this looming crisis and asking you to get involved.

Sometime in the next few days, the House of Representatives is going to vote on a bill that would fundamentally alter the Internet. That bill would give the big phone and cable companies the power to choose what you will be able to see and do on the Internet.

Today the Internet is an information highway where anybody ? no matter how large or small, how traditional or unconventional ? has equal access to everyone else. On the Internet, a business doesn't need the network's permission to communicate with a customer or deploy an innovative new service. But the phone and cable monopolies, who control almost all broadband Internet access, want the power to choose who gets onto the high-speed lanes and whose content gets seen first and fastest. They want to build tollbooths to block the on-ramps for those whom they don't want to compete with and who can't pay this new Internet tax. Money and monopoly, not ideas and independence, will be the currency of their Internet.

Under the proposed "pay-to-play" system, small- and medium-sized businesses will be placed at an automatic disadvantage to their larger competitors. Those who cannot afford the new Internet tax ? or who want to compete directly with the phone and cable companies ? will be marginalized by slower Internet access that will inevitably make their sites less accessible, and therefore less appealing.

Creativity, innovation and a free and open marketplace are all at stake in this fight. Imagine an Internet in which your access to customers is constrained by your ability to cut a deal with the carriers. Please call your representative in Congress at 202-224-3121. For more information on the issue, and more ways to make your voice be heard, visit http://www.itsournet.org/.

Thank you for your time, your concern and your support.

Eric Schmidt
CEO of Google, Inc.

Go here people: http://www.itsournet.org/

It's simple. You put your name, address and it sends a form letter (or you can edit the letter as you see fit) and click Send and you're done!

I've just sent mine. It's simple. I want my ads to continue to show to people, regardless of what internet provider they use. And whether you understand the entire issue or not, I'm sure you want your sites to continue to be accessible too! So just do it and be done with it ASAP.

100% wrong, you dont understand.

This could affect worldwide net connectivity from regions of the US. Where the webmaster lives makes no difference.

Here's an example.

Lets say 15 million people in New York state use an ISP that is partnered with Yahoo SE instead of Google. For them, the only SE that functions properly without a proxy is Yahoo. Every advertiser who uses Google Adwords is now 15 million surfers short. It does not matter if the webmaster lives in Europe. If they want those 15 million surfers, they must now tailor their advertising or lose business.

Or lets say an ISP decides to block anything Adult in nature to any of it's clients. They'll be allowed to. It's not a free speech violation or anyting else, it's their business, they're allowed to decide, so they do. Again, it doesnt matter where the webmaster lives does it? It's an issue of surfers being able to SURF where they want to.

Those are the sorts of things that could be at issue. So really, you should be lobbying all USA webmasters to click that link, send that letter to preserve Net Neutrality if you're a webmaster anywhere in the world.

Well put Tom your absolutely right. According to the CIA website there are 295,734,134 people in the USA those are the potential customer you will not be seeing anymore surfing your pages because the US Congress passed a shitty law

Like I said in my last post they have to be. the only ones that are going to gain are the ISP that sends you where they want you to go instead. or perhaps we will start to see things like this here in the USA when the ISP doesnt want you to go there.

Since that was a pretty old article - an update - the House already rejected the laws as amendments to the communications act - and the senate will probably do the same thing - basically the commerce commitee of the senate is working on it today - and would like to just put in a "surfers bill of rights" to prevent any corporatization of the internet - so basically they are going to reject any idea of ISPs being allowed to regulate/hamper American surfers. The Senate will then have a debate soon that is expected to go the same way as the House did - and totally reject the ideas of privatizing any parts of the Internet

Unfortunately a lot of news articles out there dont understand the concept and cant figure out when the congress says its voting AGAINST changes in net neutrality - that that is what we want - rejecting any regulation
