What do you want to know?

Business yes = no problem.
Quality of life = good.

I am evaluating Panama vs Costa Rica for physical relocation. They seem to compare on paper in many areas. Costa Rica has a long stable political tradition, Panama is reinvented each time the US get's involved. But from what I see CR has a growing problem with economic inequity and might not have long term stability.

Do you think Panama is a safe place to both invest capital, do porn as a business and live? All the online propaganda says yes to the first two, would not consider the third but I prefer to hear from people in this business who doe business and live in country.

Thanks

Realistically, Costa Rica is beautiful...but played out, over-populated with gringo scammers and the people have learned every trick in the book for robbing you blind.

Panama's the place... I researched for over a year and have lived here nearly 6 months. It's great...

No taxes form Costa Rica also.
If your planning to hire any employees, then unless you speak Spanish - Costa Rica is the only choice.

I have been in MultiPlaza (shopping mall) many times in Panama - and I have never found an English speaking clerk. In Costa Rica - English is quite common.

First off, you can do just fine speaking only a little spanish in Panama, Second, as for the US citizens paying taxes. You pay taxes on the money that you earn in the US. if you earn money from Panama, you dont have to claim that unless you make 80k or more. Also you get an automatic 30 day extension on your taxes.

And if I recall not long ago, someone from thos baord had some legal issues in Panama for running porn sites.

You hear a lot about Costa Rica because CR has promoted itself as a tourist destination for a long time, while Panama is just starting to. However Panama is by far more advanced in most of the areas (financial, technological, etc), safer and cheaper.

A lot of companies are moving their operations to Panama INCLUDING adult businesses.

Lifestyle - I LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT. Every other weekend I go to a beach - Atlantic or Pacific... depends on my mood .. wanna explore jungles, go rafting, scuba diving, surfing?... or any kind of other outdoor activity (appropriate for the climate, of course) - we got it. Oh yes, climate... let me tell you, I don't miss winter AT ALL! Summer all year round.

A lot of foreigners are buying land and properties here. New condos are built through out Panama city that are bought mostly by foreigners. And watch out for Donald Trump's condo development - that's going to be one of the biggest and most beautiful project in Latin American. I guess he believes it's worth investing in Panama....

Bottom line is that there must be a reason why so many expats leave CR for Panama. Do a search and you'll find their stories and their reasons. Join yahoo newsgroups (panamaforum, americansinpanama, etc) and ask questions and you can always PM me
