I took antis for 3 years... went off 2 years ago. Felt great to do it. Some people never go off... but try to get off when you feel you can. They are not good to stay on for the long term man.

I have been on Wellbutrin. It was after trying a couple of other meds and this was the one that worked for me. If it helps, its not the same for everyone. Prozac and zoloft made me sleep all the time. You may have to try a few to find the one for you.

I was on Wellbutrin XL for depression. Stayed on it for 6 months or so. Didn't seem to do much for me. I felt more anxiety when taking it. I experienced no major side effects. I did lose 8 pounds but I went from a pack a day to almost 2 packs a day as far as the smoking is concerned.

Had no problems going off and actually feel a bit better without it. (Back down to a pack a day as well)

But everyone is different of course.

People talk about having anger issues, and mentioning anxiety.
My brother started taking wellbutrin back in 90-91 I think it was...and it wired him out something fierce.

Might as well have had him on a meth habit.

I took wellbutrin for a long time and it was not a good thing. If you so much as have one drink you can completely black out for hours... Not that you pass out nothing like that, more like the next day you are totally black from a certain hour to a certain hour when trying to remember who you talked to or what you did. Scary enough...

But the GOOD thing about wellbutrin is that it boosts your libido. Not just a little but really really noticable. Makes sex great.

If you really want to quit smoking on top of it, I'd say do it. But if you really aren't thinking about taking it for that, it will just make you smoke twice as much because it dulls that part of your brain that gets the rush from the nicotine. So basicallly you'll smoke and it's not doing as much for you. Hopefully what usually happens is you start forgetting to smoke for long periods of time lol...

I dunno Juicy. I wouldnt' do it. I didn't want shit in my system to make me feel a certain way so I had started going to the gym. There is nothing like 20 min of sweating and heavy breathing I'm telling you. Then it will naturally change your appetite and you'll crave better foods, and then from that you will natually feel healthier too.

Lately I've been going on a walk every night.. This dog we got kinda has me doing that and I'm feeling better than the months where I wasn't getting any exercise.

Don't do it juicy. You'll pull out of it fast if you force yourself. Trust me on this, I'm from Seattle area the depression capital of the world.

A long time ago I was on Prozac, and after a year or so, switched briefly to Wellbutrin because of Prozac's side effects.
The Wellbutrin made me totally nuts - I was afraid I was going to go out and buy a high-powered rifle and climb a tower. (And it had no effect either way on my smoking.)
After a couple of weeks I went back to Prozac...and felt much better.
A year or so later I just stopped taking the Prozac and felt fine - and realized that maybe my depression had just been caused by my ex-wife

Yeah I think the holidays and shit and evrything brought it on. I need to self motivate myself and get out of the state I am in at the moment... I think a few days to myself might do the trick

I love my welbutirin - but i tend to be really hyper on it. Otherwise it's fucking fabulous for my particular brand of depression.

LOL @ all the home-made psychiatrists.

If you feel uncomfy using it, just ask for an alternative. Welbutrin is kind of in its own group, but there are lots of other medicines available that can be used to treat depression.

The bottom line is that of the couple dozen plus depression meds out there, you have to find the one that works for you.. I've been on Welbutrin and didn't have all the side efects others are talking about... I'm on Effexor right now and it makes me too tired and stuff so am probably going to change to something else, maybe back to Welbutrin. A lot of people are given Welbutrin to help quit smoking. It helped lessen my desire, but I didn't quit while on it.. I was off it for awhile and quit on my own.

I smoke pot and do something extremely physical...like backpack 15 miles...

All those pills scare me.

Take a few days off and go skiing or something you would never think of doing but always wanted to..
