![]() hey all, any here have experience w/ Vonage's 'Soft Phone' offering? i've been using their regular service since they opened up shop and have been very happy w/ it, i've dragged that Cisco router around the globe w/ me and any decent broadband connection i've plugged it into has afforded me unlimited calling access to the states and Canada, w/ really good quality... but, this Soft Phone thing...
...never tried that. am going on a short trip to Tokyo next week and it seems my accomodations don't have wired ethernet, just wireless access (802.11g)... i'm wondering whether to try signing up for the Soft Phone service for a month and see how it fares through my laptop (17" Powerbook) in conjunction w/ a strong wifi connection. anyone tried out the service, and have any input in regards to how well it works sans wires, perhaps w/ a bluetooth headset as well? thx in advance all..! ![]() ![]()

i have heard good things about it.. there are much cheaper alternatives though that have unlimited dialing and stuff. if you use another softphone, a good one is xpro.. but you have to buy it (the software). i use broadvoice.com for SIP (the provider), and xpro for the phone. works great.
i also use vonage for my home service, but i found their softphone service to be lacking in features for the price (though i never tried it personally)
