It crashed less than 30 minutes ago and they are still trying to put out the fire and reach people and you are already wanting a death toll?

There's a witness who is saying the plane had landed but was hit by lightning on the runway and ran off the end into a ravine.

Wild. I hope everyone is ok but it looks bad.

Oh man, this is really bad!

I guess they overshot the runway and the plane exploded after that, they are still trying to figure out how many people were evacuated, but this looks very bad, we will find out more news soon!

Lightning strikes occur frequently, unbeknownst to passengers, at altitude and on the ground. The planes are specifically designed to handle them without a problem, and do routinely. It's just the media being unknowledgeable on the subject, as usual, as well as passengers.

This had nothing to do with any lightning, hopefully we'll know more soon.

Sounds like wind shear.

The crazy thing is this is 20 years to the day of the wind shear related crash in Dallas.

The only report is that the pilot and co-pilot are okay. No news on the fate of passengers. One lady reported that the plane broke in half and then burst into flames.

Hard to believe there is no word of survivors other than the pilot and co-pilot. With the amount of time that has passed it makes me think there are very few.

Don't know if there are any dead yet ... 200 people inside, lots are going to the hospital (including a pilot)

yes, sounds like low level wind shear, very dangerous for heavy aircraft because they do not respond so fast to control movements at slow speed.

a cessna can deal with it---a heavy jet cannot.

Yeah, I'm hoping the weather improves. It looks like the severe thunderstorm and lightning played a factor. One witness claimed it was hit by lightning.

Passenger says that she thought the plane was coming in too land at too high an altitude then the plane suddendly dropped, landed hard, bounced several times then slid of the runway.
