I drove to Syracuse (USA) yesterday. So many poor people.

I was amazed at how poor people looked in the USA.

Shit, things have changed. I don't go down there se often, but times must be getting harder. So many run down places. I just can't imagine what the "poor" southern parts of the country look like.

I hope your country isn't being run into the ground. It used to be an amazing place. I heard something about 43,000 billion dollars of debt in 10 years if nothing changes. Crazy shit.

I live an hour from Syracuse and it is a paradise compared to where I live. We have no industry at all. The only thing we make around here are guns at Remington Arms. And every month there are rumors of The Arms moving south.

The poor southern parts of the country will probably look better than the "poor" parts of New York City.

Still lots of money here in Rochester.

The depressed parts aren't so bad, just makes it easier to pick up cheap real estate.

Renovations all over the place. We got a new baseball stadium a few years ago and they're building a soccer stadium now.

I'm actually glad I came home to settle down.

With income distribution skewing heavier and heavier to the top 5% and the lowest labour participation rates in decades (ignore the 'unemployment' rate, which is a completely contrived number that bears little semblance to what everyday people think it is), and real inflation at astronomical levels (the inflation which includes fuel and food and medical price increases) you can expect to see more and more of that. Get comfortable with driving through the new ghettos.

Moral of this story: Become part of that top 5%, or find a new route to drive through... if you can.

Lived in Syracuse for over 5 years about 10 years ago (born and raised in Montreal). Owned a couple of Dunkin Donuts there, and can't begin to tell you how horrible the work ethic is amongst teens to mid 20's. It seems they don't dream about success or aspire to too much compared to all Canadian cities I have lived in (Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, Vancouver...).

Yeah, Detroit sucks ass... I mean just look at the Ghetto I live in.

What a clueless remark. Outside of a 5 sq mile area.. The Detroit Metro area is an amazing place to live.

Things will only get worse over the next decade when the ordinary people will have to pay the bill for the years of incompetent neo-con leadership.

Halliburton will be doing fine of course.
