Kitten - Rescued - I need help

Ok I'm not going to make a Mushy post.
I got a kitten from a pet store that had a special, buy 30 dollars in cat supplies get a free kitten.

No shots, not neutred.
Now my question is do I really hav eto take it to the vet, I don' tbeleive in doctors and I don't want some vet telling me to drop 500 on a cat becuase it has an ear mite.

Or will it be safe in my home without seeing a vet?

Since I found a kitten yesterday I made inquires.
Vet is running a vaccine special, .99 for rabies shots and 12.00 for the rest. Then when it is of age I can have her fixed for 30.00 minus the 50% off voucher I can get from the city.
I know I can turn down any services I do not want them to do. Yet shots and the no more babies no going into heat fix its a must.

At least take it to a vet to get checked out and make sure it is healthy. Just because you got it from a pet store does not mean it is healthy. If you plan on keeping it as an only cat and an indoor cat, some vets are saying you do not need to get vaccinations. But ONLY if you never plan on letting it outside. If you are going to make it an indoor/outdoor cat, you will need to get it vaccinations.

Actually pet stores are horrible for disease, depending on the pet store of course. I would take it to the vets and get it neutered/spade and it's shots. Cats need to be neutered if you don't then your cat will either spray (if it's a boy) everywhere and stink up the house or if it's a girl welcome to a cat in heat, there is nothing worse!

i have had many cats and i have never taken them to the vet unless it's been absolutely necessary.
If you plan on keeping it as an indoor cat then you really don't need it to have shots.
The kitten i currently have is almost 9 months old and it's a male and i have still not had it's man hood cut off...lol - it doesn't spray and in my opinion i think the less you mess with it the healthier it will be.
They are pretty good about healing themselves - it's natural.

You should at the least take the kitten to the vet to get checked out and to be spayed/neutered. There are programs out there to help pay for the costs as like a package so its doesnt get too expensive. We had a female cat which we only spayed, she was an indoor cat and she lived for 17 years. About a year ago we got a male kitten and HAD to get him fixed because he was spraying ALL around the house. It was a nasty mess!

i adopted a cat for $25 from a shelter 2 months ago. as far as shots go, i just went to a wholeseller (Farm & Fleet) store that sells the vacines for like $8 (instead of about $50 for all his shots & they make you get a "Exam" for the cat before the give the shots, and that was like $100 out here. so, instead of blowing $150+, i went & spent $8 lol

I plan on getting him fixed, but theres places that do that for free to help control the pet population. other than that, i probably wont take him to the vet (of course, unless hes really sick or hurt).

It was hard to spend 30 bucks tehre, the litter box was 3 dollars, the kitten food was 4 dollars the kitten toys were all less than 3 dollars, i had to make shit up... like "I'll take a leash and an extra water dish " it was crazy.

I spent 30. 21 cents only because i convinced her the bone that I bought for 35 cents was for cats.

It was a small hole in the wall petshop, not a petland or walmart, you knwo that good old folks kind of store. Great variety, they had marshal farm ferrets for only 55 dollars, I mean tehy don' ttry to fuck you on prices.
I bought it 2 months ago, he shits occasionally on my daughters mini reclining sofa but that's the only prob. I live on a 3rd floor of a condominium that doesn't like pets, so it will never see sunlight again, it will neve rgo outside and in fact it likes to sit in front of my AC vents to cool off I think he'd kill himself if he went outdoors. He's a mainecoon, the pet store sells them and he was too old and so they gave him to me. Something about not being true breed standard. WTF do I care about breed standard.
If anyone wants a cool pet store in teh S. fl area let me know.

Forgot to mention theirs a vet in miami 45 min away that does any pet for free, they just ask for a donation, so if you've got 5 bucks on you at teh time they'll still help you with everythign, I'm checking them out saturday.
