Montreal: Welcome Back By: Charles Farrar Posted: 5-6-2005 MONTREAL - The adult webmaster show circuit made a seemingly triumphant return to southeastern Canada with Adult.com?s Webmaster Access officially opening Thursday evening. Despite some initially chilly weather, the attendees, who at least appear to be in the largest numbers for a Webmaster Access show yet, were in good spirits, as well as full of them. The show got underway with The Ultimate Poutine and Beer Happy Hour at the Peel Pub, which by 7:30 p.m. was so crowded with pornographers that the straight crowd was left standing in line at the door. Following happy hour, which spilled slightly past the designated time, was Reality Cash and JoinRightNow.com?s WarmUp Party at Club Living. The highlight of the party was no doubt the webmaster who was so intoxicated by the time he got to the party that he was passed out ? standing up, mind you ? while leaning on the bar. Many photo opps ensued, some of which will no doubt appear on JFK?s F.U.B.A.R. Webmasters. Friday afternoon the seminars began, with Newbies: Keys to Success, Where?s the Traffic?, and Newest Legal Issues. Traffic seminars are typically exercises in which the panelists try to be helpful while not really giving away exactly what they do to be successful, and this one was no different. Some of the more interesting points that came out of the seminar dealt with TGP traffic. ?If you want to know which programs make money, go to the big TGPs and look at whose galleries are up at the top?those [submitters] are making money from those galleries,? Gallery Traffic Service?s Mark Hurson told the captivated audience. The legal seminar that followed, and was sparsely attended, featured San Francisco-based attorney Gregory Rutchik and Chicago-based First Amendment attorney Joe Obenberger. Rutchik spoke largely about contracts and trademarks and urged webmasters to take the time to plan. Obenberger took the time to scare the shit out of everyone in the room. ?It?s like going to a haunted house at a fair, you go in there to get scared,? he told AVNOnline.com before the seminar began. Obenberger detailed Attorney General Alberto Gonzales?s plans to fight against obscenity, particularly on the Web, and informed the crowd about the ins and outs of the Extreme Associates case. There are a lot of ins and outs, man. And then it was off to another night on the town, this time hosted by the fine folks at BrainCash. More news at 11. ![]() |
