Fireworks or Photoshop?

I use Dreamweaver for minor design stuff, but I have been using Fireworks for years. I need to upgrade to a new version... should I get PhotoShop or Fireworks?

YARGH! Depends. Mainly graphics, I'd say PS, if doing more vector I'd say Fireworks. Overall I would lean towards PS, you can get away with both with 7 and up.

Yeah, with the latest versions of Photoshop you can do just about anything you need to do graphically, that's what I use.

I've used Fireworks for about 4 years now.. I just recently started using Photoshop CS, it's taking some time getting used to the tools & keyboard shortcuts, but overall it seems like it will become more efficient than Fireworks.

I'd say Photoshop. I have 7, and see no need for the CS upgrade. But I do not do a lot of graphics heavy shit.

Photoshop's good but don't ditch Fireworks - remember DW has that link in the properties box that allows you to instantly open an image in Fireworks to make adjustments and then saves it without all the usual mucking around.

For me that is a great time saver.

Fireworks is amazing, but Photoshop is more popular. If you only do graphics for yourself and no one else will be messing with them, then go Fireworks, otherwise, go Photoshop

The Dreamweaver - Fireworks integration is nice for being able to make quick changes to an image without having to re-export it.

That said, Photoshop is easier for me to freestyle design with -- but then i usually bring a flattened version of the PSD into fireworks as the basis of a new PNG file.

Bottom line... I use both. If I had to choose, it would be Fireworks because of the seamless integration.
