If the site can't inspire the mainstream media, or resonate with customers, its life expectancy is very short, and it merely becomes another one in a million porn sites vying for surfer attention, a very risky proposition.

However, a few adult companies know better. They think long term and build a branded fortress to minimize their risk. You know them immediately: PLAYBOY, HUSTLER, PENTHOUSE, PERSIAN KITTY, VOYEUR DORM, PARIS HILTON, JENNA JAMESON, DANNIS HARDDRIVE, VICTORIA'S SECRET, TROJAN, KY JELLY, THE HUN, IFRIENDS, ETC..

How do these players/ products always seem to last through the years, and/ or come out on top? Some have been around for decades. A large part of their success is because they have created a killer brand for themselves. Their brands are memorable, and their customers identify with them, and their sites and products seem to live indefinitely and above the fray. They retain their customers, and they keep selling to them, because it is far more profitable to sell, upsell, and re-bill existing customers than to continually prospect for new ones.

Mainstream has been using branding for years. Adult could learn alot, and select adult companies could implement some of these same principles to rise to the top.

Some of the principles of branding are very simple. One of the interesting lessons of branding can be seen in the annual listing of the Top 100 brands which is published by a major business magazine. Perhaps 80% of the top brands are one word names such as: Starbucks, Mercedes, Toyota, McDonalds, etc.. Maybe 15% (or so) are two words. Only a handful are three words or more. ALL of them use the .COM analogue on the internet.

Our compensation is a small percentage of its success. Below are the basic terms.

LICENSEE REQUIREMENTS:

A. Prospective licensee must be an established adult company currently operating no fewer that 15 adult oriented websites.

B. Prospective licensee must be an established business for a minimum of 3 years.

C. Licensee must have access or ability to acquire unique MILF content.


LICENSING TERMS:

1. MILFSTER.COM domain name will be licensed exclusively for 4 years.

2. Licensee will compensate licensor with a royalty of 10% of the gross sales of the MILFSTER.COM website, gross sales being defined as revenue minus chargebacks. Think of the domain owner Licensor as a "super affiliate."

3. MILFSTER.COM will be promoted along with Licensee's other adult websites.

4. MILFSTER.COM website will go live within 90 days of an agreement.

Other details can be discussed between the principles and counsel.

Proposals from strong and well known adult firms will get priority.

MILFSTER has tremendous promise as a branded reality site, and it needs to be done right.

nice domain but why would anyone license this for 4 years. If the site grows huge and the brand is established (like MILFHunter) after four years you can let the license run out and have the entire branded domain for yourself.

Maybe I'm missing something?

exactly! I thought about the same thing!

If the name was milf.com then it would be worth it, but you can pretty much brand any milf name with the right content, especially if your a player in the industry-like one that he is looking for.

Presumeably the licensee will have 4 years to make alot of money. Most sites don't last nearly that long.

If there is residual value for me, well, I guess equity has its benefits.

If that were true, Master-McNeil, Lexicon, and A Hundred Monkeys and all of Madison Avenue would be out of business.

If that were true, business magazines wouldn't print lists of global top brands.

dude, you are missing the point, your name aint all that, just because a couple of "ster" type names are popular does not mean anything. Those names where unique concepts and ideas, like friendster, napster, and so on. What do you have that is unique about milfster?

I just regged a milf name the other day, it was available, and I heard howard stern mention it a few times on the air, instant popularity, it did not cross anyones mind before he mentioned it. But millions of people heard it about four times, and since, Artie has used it a few times. Nevertheless, good luck with it.
