You all taught me how to seek an investor

Which frankly is something I've never had to do before, so I botched it badly the first time. I need one now!

Some critical comments were made in this forum the last time I tried. While there was interest expressed, I couldn't figure out what kept bogging down the negotiations until I cleaned the crap out of my cranial cavity and looked at it with those comments in mind. Well duh. No outline, no figures, no nothing on my part to help guide the negotiations.

So after pulling it all together, here it is in full living color - my solicitation for an investor to get restarted in the wonderful world of producing erotic web content, complete with past figures, projections, and a portfolio.

Please be pliable and gentle!

I need a little bit of investment capital

PS: I'm sorry to hear about your loss, Sarah. Having watched my P's both die slow and agonizing deaths, I know what a shock it is to lose a loved one even when you expect it.

What exactly do you need investment capital for? Development? Marketing?

I can't say that I understand the proposal.

Development. I need to buy a few things but 2/3 of the money is to hire models to get the ball rolling again.

your business approach or what you think business is will lead you nowhere.. certainly not in this industry..

So start DOING things instead of THINKING and stuff will start
falling together for you.

Besides that.. your numbers are outrageous and dont make any sense.

And:

"Our goal is to ramp up to producing at least 20,000 sellable photos and at least 15 videos per month within the next 30-45 days. This, at our current price points, represents $40,000-$45,000 per month in gross sales. We would then look to double our sales in the adult entertainment market by December 2005, and also to expand into different markets such as mainstream fashion, product and editorial."

Sounds great but how are you planning to accomplish that?

Or is that just a detail youll 'work out during the process'?

Well, I appreciate your input, but you don't understand this side of the business, apparently..

I can sell as many photos as I can shoot. That's something I should have made more clear. It's a piece of cake to shoot 20,000 photos and 15 videos in a month.

I've (ahem) done enough of it to know that, and I suppose my mistake on this aspect of the plan is not to have pointed that out. I'm just assuming that everyone here knows about the workflow of production photography.

"Outrageous" is innaccurate. "Realistic" would be accurate, but how can I expect you to know that? You're "thinking" about my numbers and not "doing" my numbers.

He doesn't have an idea, no equipment, no money, and without a clue coming to GFY - send money. Same as the first post. And, stop bumping your own thread... it just proves that no-one is interested.

You didn't read the investor page. Or look at any of the photos? If you did, you'd know I have both equipment and an idea.

Or are you just trying to influence others against reading it?

You're either talking out your ass or lying through your teeth.

If your numbers are as great as you proclaim then why would you need financial backing? I'm just curious as to why someone that not only shoots that many shots but claims that it's "simple" would need financial assistance.

If you can sell them as fast as you can shoot them then it should be a revolving door and you shouldn't need any startup capital.

Well as it says on the investor page, I haven't been concentrating on shooting for the past year. I've done some shooting, but only sporadically and then it has involved travel.

I can produce documentation and verification of those numbers to any serious investor.

By the way, all rancor aside, I am learning about what questions I should be addressing up front from all of this give and take. If nothing else comes out of this, that has. Thanks.

Not to bump my post, but I tracked down the portfolio Flash issue which may have affected some of your impressions.

In Microshit Internet Exploder, there is an issue with embedding Shockwave out of the box. I changed the source code on the page, and now all of you using MSIE should be able to view the Portfolio Page showing samples of my past work.

Not to sound mean but lighting is a VERY IMPORTANT aspect of photography.

Hmmm..... not sure how to take that. The samples include various lighting setups and filter combinations. A few of them take advantage of natural light.

If you mean that the model isn't absolutely flooded with lots of light a'la "amateur" model photography, you're right. None of these samples are. However, having shot lots images for ATK, and assuming you prefer to see that, I have samples of those too.

Pick your poison Chong ! And thanks for your input!

Second picture: can't see the 2 things that interest anyone watching or wanting to watch porn - face & pussy.

Hey, you asked. TWICE!

You shoot for ATK? Karups? Thanks, I'm contacting them now to solicit my production services.

Yes, I rather like both of those.

The picture on top used all natural light, no flash or fill to give it that warm glow. The morning light in that kitchen is exceptional year-round.

The bottom one used a strobe w/umbrella on about %50 power as a soft fill at around 45% camera right. I wanted a shadow over her crotch, but not a full one. I also wanted to catch the sunlight through the picture window to camera left without cancelling it out.

Be my guest. These particular shots weren't taken for ATK or Karups, they were taken for me.

By the way, I suppose I should add a word here about the dangers of thinking that your particular taste in erotic photography encompasses the entire definition. These examples are glamour and playboy style, respectively. There are PORN shots on the portfolio that neither of you have mentioned.

No shit? If her mother and I ever decide to make the leap, she'll be my step-daughter. Tell her I said HI. I'm sure I'll talk to her later. She was my business partner at 29 Productions, by the way.

What bothers me is your lack of constancy or consistency.

You state you've sold what you've created; but, that word 'sporadic' would be enough to scare anyone.

That's a fair enough statement. Shooting has been sporadic because my focus has been on digital image manipulation and server management for the past year. I believe I explained that in the investors' information page.

Quite simply, I haven't been spending my time doing what I love, which is to shoot. I've been spending it fixing server problems and retouching other peoples' pictures (which both are tedious and low-paying activities, by the way).

I'm now coming back to what I love. As I mentioned to POV, "Flame" was my business partner last fall just when we were doing well. The partnership ended not over any business trouble or even personal animosity (there were and are none), but because she and her husband decided to move back east where he is from. That simple.

It doesn't, because I didn't. We simply solicited our services to key people whom we knew to buy content.
