reinstalling service pack 2 for win2k

Hi.

I've justy tried reinstalling win2k... but now, that I made a new clean install, I have to reinstall the service pack 2, but it says in my windows it is not installed / that I cannot uninstall it, but on windows update, it's plain not there for me to install..

any ways to force it to install on update?

You got me confused. If you click update the MS update check will tell you whats available. If you have already updated then the service pack will not show.

Version 5 build 2195 service pack 2 should show in the win2k settings

Mag if you mean on the MS online update site, see if that one has the history available on the site like the 98 update version. Delete the service pack from the online history, dsiconnect from it and go back and you should be able to see the service pack again in the available updates/grades.

Might have to reboot your system but we never had to do that yet to get that method to work. We had some updates corrupt on installations and thats how we could get back to them again.

Hope the new ME-2000 versions still offer that way of getting around it. (We haven't upgraded yet from 98)

gem, I didn't see that at first glance... but I only spent 2 mins checking as I had to go, and thought I'd ask the boards since most know more than I do eheh..

somebody gave me a direct link to the update... installing it now...

but I saw some history thing which was only stating when and IF it was installed, no delete thing.. but I might be wrong

Check that history thing out and post it Mag! It'd be great to know if we will be able to uncheck it or somehow delete it from the MS server history so that we can re-access the updates. I'm sure others would appreciate the info.

Trying to locate a particular URL on MS really is a week long job!
