Virus problem, anyone removed "weird" virus?

I am trying to get my kids computer fixed, it has this virus called "weird" virus. I have downloaded a new virus detection program, but up until now have only been able to mostly remove and disinfect the infected programs

basically now the thing is contained but not eliminated, the virus software pops up and cleans new infections about every 5 seconds, so the computer is pretty useless with the corresponding alert box popping up every 5 seconds also

Anyone else have any success with this virus?

thx

Go here for a realtime scan: http://security2.norton.com/us/home.asp?j=1&productid=sarc&plfid=20&langid=us&ven id=sym&pkj=HHQAHEEUODUVJSSSJTD

it will tell you what exactly you have. There are free repair files there for alot of viruses

As you can see if you run weird in the search box on this page: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html

There are quite a few viruses with 'weird' in them.

Then go BUY Norton Systemworks!!!!!

I love Norton Anti Virus, it's so happy with my Win2000 and updates itself without fuss.

I checked the norton site, just now... there are lots or weird versions, that's for sure

the problem is that they are already running norton a/v on this box, however the virus got past their monitoring system and is unable to clean the infected files

I had to download a new a/v program to try and remove it, and the new software is better, but I cannot remove the files or virus

The best thing to do is to backup/format/re-install

It might require a registry hack to get rid of it.
