AOL/DMOZ, how to optimize to get better rankings?
I remember when they started. They'd hire anybody as a reviewer.
How's their traffic nowadays? Good or just so-so? If the traffic is worthy, how best to optimize a site for higher ranking? |

primary mistake is not submitting it to the most relevant sub-category available

If you are submitting quality sites and not getting listed, the problem is probably sheer volume: some of the catgories have backlogs of tens of thousands of sites. Other categories have inactive or nonexistent editors but mostly it's just a matter of having too many sites to review. SpaceAce |

I don't get it. How do you hire editors/reviewers with paysites to edit/review their competition's websites? Seems to me a conflict of interest somewhere there. If it works well, swell, but that does raise an eyebrow.

Various different web pages for the same model, each page with descriptions (at least 200 words) that are relevant to the scene? Example: 30 pictures - 30 pages, 250 words per page |

Here are two tips for people trying to get listed in DMOZ:
#1) MAKE SURE YOU ARE SUBMITTING TO THE PROPER CATEGORY. Sorry if I am shouting but people submitting to the wrong categories is a MAJOR cause of delay in getting sites listed. #2) Don't decide you're going to build a hardcore teen site and then go submit it to the hardcore teen gallery category. Instead, browse for a category that has very few links AND an editor listed. Yes, those categories get less traffic but getting 25 hits/day from a rarefied niche is better than getting 0 hits/day to your teen hardcore gallery which is sitting at the bottom of a list of 138,000 unreviewed sites. Actually, I can combine both of those tips into one: Find an underserved category with an editor and then build a site that fits the category perfectly. SpaceAce |

Dmoz in adult is corrupt. So corrupt that they deny 99%applications for being an editor.
they don't want people moving into their territory. If they were fair dinkum they would allow more editors and then have an overseer of those editors. But fuck them.there is more than 1 way to get a site into dmoz.see sig ![]() |
