Value of ethics in this biz

What do you think is the value of ethics in this biz?

How many of us push penis pills that don't work?
How many of us use insane dialer fees or auto dialers?
How many of us would knowingly screw the surfer for $10 extra bucks per signup?

I've been in this biz for 2 years now, and my answer to these and many similar question is: way too damn much.

I was digging up threads about the effectiveness of penis pills. The majority of replies was in the line of: The question should not be whether it works, but whether it converts.

Is anyone with me on this or is scamming accepted?

This industry has atracted both the get rich quick crowd and scammers, as well as a few honest people -
I have run pay sites since 1996 and:
Will never push pills that don't work
Never use a dialer as I know many foriegners have cards.
And I still charge a reasonable price for membership.

I guess in 90% of eyes that makes me stupid !!!

How many politicians tell you that they will reduce taxes, but in fact they end up increasing them?

Maybe you can find consolation that 90% of the people who today think you are stupid will be out of the business before too much longer. Shame they will have killed a good part of the market before they go, but there you go...

It might help if so many webmasters stopped acting like a bunch of pre-pubescent teens at a pop concert too. This hero-worship crap that makes something - like the Paris video scam - acceptable if you are a "player", is pathetic.

Spot on - Nothing to add to that at all.

Just to dispel some of those illusions, the "legitimate" drugs industry decides who will do its tests, can ban publication of unfavorable tests, and can keep resubmitting the same tests - juggling the numbers between submissions - to the FDA, until they are accepted. The FDA asks few questions, does no tests of its own, and tends to assume the drug companies are honest.

It isn't uncommon for tests to involve only a couple of dozen subjects and they may last as little as 4-6 weeks. Effectivity is a simple yes/no answer as to whether a drug is more effective than a placebo.

Even a heavyweight drug like Prozac had fewer than 300 subjects and no long-term testing until the drug went to market. Healthy young men are used for most testing, even if the drug is intended for women, children or the elderly. Subjects who show early adverse reactions are usually excluded from further testing.

About 40% of doctors apparently do not know there is a reporting procedure for the side effects of drugs they prescribe. Even if they did, since the process is in the hands of the drug companies marketing departments and the FDA is reluctant to get involved directly, in the worst cases many deaths can occur before any action is taken.

It is estimated that 100,000 people a year die in US hospitals alone from adverse reactions to CORRECTLY prescribed drugs. The total isn't known because of the limitations in tracking data from other sources. Those side effects that fill so many TV ads are broken down into such specific categories that the manufacturers can legitimately claim "a small percentage" for each reaction. But again using Prozac as an example, if you collate the numbers from a myriad of sexual side effects, the total suffering some kind of sexual disfunction after taking the drug is more than 50%.

Under the provisions of part of the Patriot Act, drug companies were given $7 billion to create and stockpile vaccines for perceived biological threats. These drugs are not required to undergo any human testing at all but it is an offense to refuse to be vaccinated if ordered. Last year a program was begun to vaccinate health care workers against smallpox, despite the known dangers of the vaccine and in the absence of any measurable threat. The death rate was 80 times higher than the CDC anticipated and by summer the program was in shambles because of protests.

Drugs companies contributed over $250 million towards GW's last election campaign...
