Someone said that there is no money in mainstream sites so they target adult... Ok.. CNN, MSNBC are broke? THey do not use a ton of video? Think of the $$ they could make from these two sites alone. God loves america... land of the lawsuit. |

maybe we should all settle, then sue them for abuse of monopoly and unfair business practices.

its sad that some companies took the sweetheart deal rather than fight the good fight. This acacia shit will blow over one way or another over the next year or so.

acacia wouldnt pick on those companies because they would get squashed.
They came up with a pretty good extortion scheme. Sue adult guys and use alot of legal heat to try and get some licenses. And using sweetheart deals on a handful of bigger companies to try and give credibility to their claims and get more companies to cave. I think the end result will be much like their v-chip thing. It wil get invalidated and those that hold out will get the last laugh. I would rather close my business than give those cocksuckers one red penny. |

Which companies are still actively fighting Acacia's patents and haven't settled other than Lightspeed? Any new updates on the Homegrown coalition?

I wrote to Real Media's legal department and again.. nothing back... I basically told them that I wanted to purchase their product to stream video.. told them my concerns about acacia and their patent and fees... asked if I purchased their program and streamed video if I would be responsible for these fees... and if so, why when I am paying for the software to create such files... again... nothing. |

A good defense lawyer should bring up the fact they they are only targeting adult and if they really cared about protecting their pat. they would be going after EVERYONE that is streaming.. just like the RIAA is sueing 12 and 66 year olds... no discrimination there... but this is full on discrimination. |

hmm..
According to Acacia, they have 5 U.S. and 17 international patents on their DMT technology. Upon further examination, I see patents registered in the following countries: United States (X5) Taiwan Mexico Switzerland France Italy Luxembourg Netherlands Sweden Great Britain Greece Japan Belgium Spain Monaco Denmark Germany Austria I notice that there are a few rather glaring omissions in the scope of their patents, namely Canada, and Australia. Does anyone know anything about this? Why would Acacia not file in Canada or Australia? I'm curious to know if any Canadian or Australian companies have been contacted by Acacia yet? ![]() |

Acacia is targeting more than just Adult!!!
Acacia has also targeted online education.. in fact one school for disabled students shut down its program rather than pay or license. We have a nice announcement coming up that should respond well to the issues that are raised here in this thread...

The companies that settled, settled. That is all I have to say on that.
The defense group is fighting. Homegrown, Video Secrets, Ademia, and others. In the next day or so, you will see how strongly we are fighting. I believe that you will be pleased. |
