Who gives a F*** about content theft?

The answer is, only you.

Hey guys,

Over the years, I think have been angry and as frustrated as many of you have when it comes to content theft.

My last issue with content theft was on Instagram, where a user had a large amount of content, I report the user and sent in a DMCA takedown notice, but the nice guys at Instagram what a DMCA for every images on the guys account, despite that the guy had only posted my content.

As webmaster and producer, we have an industry that make a lot of revenue on-line, yet we are treated unfairly by everyone who makes a cut from us because we are in the “Adult Industry” people can very easier get a refund on their credit card once they leach the content, but to date I don’t think a CC Company has ever asked to see the logs or what the use has accessed, and to think you pay a yearly fee for the privilege of Mastercard billing, but they offer you no protection at all, but still make money off you.
I found over the years, for want of a better term, “syndicates” these are groups of people that sign up to sites, anywhere between 3 – 8 accounts and then the account will lay dormant for a month or so, after which the abuse starts.

I find the same IP addresses access the same group of accounts and I find the password will are relativity easy, in most case similar to or the same as the account name, what you will find is these accounts have all got a yahoo or gmail account and if you talk to other webmasters, the same users and password are on these different sites, allowing all members in the syndicate to access any site, with the same password and usernames.
Sometimes they slip up, you will find people trying to access your site before the account has been site up.

You can stop, delete and block these guys, but what they will do it get a new pay paid debit card and or up to the site again via PayPal if you site is using Epoch as a billing processor.

Now in the past, I shared such information with other UK webmasters, hoping they would get on board and seek out their abusive account, and let me know… but in the UK word like solidarity and collaboration just are not in their understanding.

I once found a clone of my website, using my content and when I click on one of their links, I then found a clone of Playboy, I contented Mindgeek in the UK, and they had no idea on how to take it down. I contact the host company of the website, and they shut it down, and then have the pleasure of explain to Mindgeek how I got it shut down.

Is this why big producers ignore piracy, maybe they do not know how to deal with it, or maybe the law doesn’t care when it come to the Adult Industry, unless off course we are in the wrong, then they will drag us to the courtroom and are only more than happy to fine us.

However normally once they have the content, then they post it, on files sharing forum, but the links of run of to file sharing sites (I am sure you all know this), yes there are usual Russian site, there is even one Swizz site I can think of, and you send of you DMCA notices and they are ignored.

So, what can we do about it?

I have an idea about this, there must be away, when a user downloads a set of images, that the images can be tagged with his user name, in the header of the files. OK I realise this would slowdown download response time, but if you where to right click on an unauthorised posted image, and open it in a text editor, you would see the account name of who downloaded the image and maybe the IP. Giving you the evidence to shut down the account and then justify to anyone why the account is closed and why they should not get a refund or a chargeback.

The chargeback, where the credit card company charges you, for the money someone else is refunded for the theft of your content.

However, it odd as some of these file sharing sites, you need an account to use, which means people are still paying for the content, OK not as much, but that means credit and debit cards and surely the credit card companies know this, but file sharing site are immune to have any 2257 notices and complacency regulations.

Anyway, my job here is not to point any fingers, it just observations and experience, plus that idea I had over the years. Prevent just doesn't work in many cases, as they will always find away around it, but tracking them down I think is a better way, if possible.
