Fuck..My Cat Got Sprayed By A Skunk

Poor Oscar was running around outside and I guess she got too close to a fucking skunk and got sprayed. She came in meowing and stinking to high heaven..Its too late for a vet as I want to go to the bar soon.I have her in her cage outside.I dont know what to use to get that putrid smell off her.Maybe I should find one of those 24 hour vets or sometihng?..Godam skunks ruined my night. How can I get that stink off her? Help

"We are just passing this information along. Fortunately, we have not had to test it. Mel, our former Caretaker, inadvertently captured a skunk when trying to rescue a lost and frightened cat. When he observed the animal in the cage had a pointed nose and was uncharacteristically marked with broad black and white stripes, he realized that he did not have a cat in the trap!"

"....Fortunately, it did not emit its usual 'calling card.' "

"A biologist from the West Virginia Department of Agriculture tested the following mixture by dousing a road-kill skunk. The 'fragrant' animal became completely deodorized.

1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide formula (from a pharmacy)

1/4 cup baking soda

1 tsp. liquid soap

Mix together and wash animal, being careful to keep mixture out of animal's eyes, nose, and mouth. Rinse with tap water.

Tomato juice works fairly well. The cat will still stink somewhat but the eye-tearing, choking part of the spray will be gone. My girlfriends (wife now) cat was sprayed and a couple of quarts of warm tomato juice did the job. I held the damn cat with gloves in the sink while she poured on the juice. Once the cat gave up struggling, it was a pretty funny sight.

That cat stunk a little for a week or two, but it seemed to like it, walking around all puffed up like "I fought a skunk!".

The most important thing to do if your cat has been sprayed is check his eyes, nose, and mouth. If he was sprayed in the face--which is exactly where skunks tend to aim--the chemicals in the spray could cause irritation and inflammation. They could even inflame the lining of your cat's throat and lungs, if inhaled. If your cat was sprayed in the face, rinse his eyes, nose, and mouth with water. If, after rinsing, his eyes look red or he rubs at his face, he should be seen by a veterinarian. The veterinarian can make sure his eyes aren't damaged and prescribe an ointment to soothe the irritation.

Another home remedy that can cut down on odor is a mixture made of one teaspoon of dish washing liquid and one cup of baking soda dissolved in one quart of hydrogen peroxide (3 percent strength). After thoroughly soaking your cat in the mixture, rinse him with clean tap water.

Commercial products made to remove skunk odor will most likely work better. Shampoos and sprays that are formulated to neutralize the foul-smelling chemicals in skunk spray are available from your veterinarian and at most pet stores.

Well I used the peroxide and about three large cans of tomatoe juice and it seemed to kill most of it..She hates baths as it is but I think she wanted that smell off too so she didnt quite put up much of a fight. That stench always sorta sticks around.Enough of that shit I have drinking to catch up on

After the tomato juice, rub the dry kitty down with dryer sheets
my dogs used to get sprayed once in a while when they had a big yard...
