Do you live in Florida? Maybe you shouldn't vote for Rick Scott again...

As Sea Level Rises, Idiot Rick Scott Continues to Ignore Climate Change

Quote:
As Sea Level Rises, Idiot Rick Scott Continues to Ignore Climate Change

Florida is one of the states severely threatened by rising sea levels, a symptom of climate change. Despite the pleas of scientists and engineers, Florida Gov. Rick Scott refuses to do anything to address rising sea levels in Florida, reported The Boston Globe.

Residents of St. Augustine are really feeling the hurt because their city floods about 10 times a year, and the problem is getting worse.

?If you want to benefit from the fact we?ve been here for 450 years, you have the responsibility to look forward to the next 450,? said Bill Hamilton, long-time resident of St. Augustine. ?Is St. Augustine even going to he here? We owe it to the people coming here after us to leave the city in good shape.?

Cities all along Florida?s Atlantic coast have experienced chronic flooding that has only increased within the last several years. Roads flood and drinking water wells became contaminated because of the constant flooding. These occurrences put Gov. Scott in a prime position to act and help Floridians.

Yet, Rick Scott does nothing.

Thousands of documents uncovered Scott?s total unwillingness to act as rising sea levels brought on by climate change continue to damage the Florida coast.

Scott has even downsized Florida?s environmental agencies, making it nearly impossible for such groups to create any plans to help the Florida coast.

If the problem persists, south Florida stands to suffer $33 billion in flood damage by the year 2030. Some Florida cities lack the resources to address the problem on their own and must get help from the state. Considering that Scott is the Florida head of state, no help will be given.

The governor has already ignored the advice of several climate experts from Florida?s universities and he remains silent on whether or not he actually has a plan. Scott says cities and towns should ask the environmental groups for help.

?There?s no guidance . . . Everything I?ve found to help, I?ve gotten by searching the Internet,? said St. Augustine?s civil engineer, Reuben Franklin.

With Gov. Scott being stagnant and ineffectual, where are Florida communities supposed to go for help? Because of Scott, the state of Florida is way behind where it needs to be in protecting itself from the effects of climate change.

Blah, blah, blah...climate change...blah, blah, blah...CO2...blah, blah, blah...evil republicans...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

You and crock-o-shit are the two biggest broken records around. Every post has the same theme: end of the world because of climate change caused by something that some republican somewhere did or did not do. If only they would ban CO2 completely and make everyone drive around in electric cars powered by fairy dust.

If only you didn't have such myopic vision and single mindedness you might be able to think for yourself (instead of being spoonfed by other leftists) and discover that there is more to it than CO2, climate change and sea level rise.

Here's a hint for you: subsidence.

Here's a link for you so you don't get off track and end up in another leftist echo chamber:

Land subsidence, USGS Water Science School

Here is a homework problem for you: what do you suppose happens when coastal land subsides?

And I'd wager $100 that you wouldn't say a word about it if there was a democrat running Florida and he/she was doing the same as Rick Scott.

Why not show you're not biased towards the political left by giving equal time to stupid democrats instead of exclusively posting about stupid republicans? Once you start to take the blinders off, you'll see both sides are mirrors of each other.

Those one sided or double standard applying people are just low IQ types, because normal IQ type would see both sides and would look at things objectively, even if they support one of the sides.

Why bother with you? The left has just as as many idiots as the right. The difference between you and myself is that I don't live in a world of tunnel vision, I don't spent my days seeking out information to enable myself to continually chant "see, the problem is over there" while ignoring any and all information that suggests that only 1/2 the problem is and most importantly, I don't deny my own bias, nor do I attack others for theirs as its a part of who we are.... I just make fun of the obvious one-sidedness of the arguments themselves.

NOTHING I say will ever make you say "you know what, Republicans so a lot of great things and Democrats do a lot of horrible things"... so I'd have to be an idiot to be baited into a discussion like that knowing full well that you are not mature enough to question your own views, nor are you receptive of, or even tolerant of the opinions of others who hold different views than your own.

Mark, You say 2030 (15 years from now) that there will be billions in flood damage that is directly connected to the rise is sea levels.

Yet to this day there is no true accurate # as to how much it is rising, if it is increasing/decreasing or the rate that can be used to project the rise over time.

As reported just yesterday..

Bias in satellite measurements hid recent sea level rise acceleration | Ars Technica

"If we add up all our estimates of deposits to and withdrawals from the sea level bank account (things like melting glaciers, the expansion of warming seawater, and changes in the amount of water on land) we get 2.8 ± 0.5 millimeters per year— which suddenly looks a little better. (The tide gauge record comes in at about 2.7 millimeters per year, by the way.)"

So in 15 years that puts it in at 40.5 millimeters or 1.6 inches. I think it is safe to assume that if 1.6 inch rise is rather small when you consider normal sea wave high and tides etc..

But maybe Tesla will start making amphibious electric cars.

This article is just a one sided political attack piece.

And all politicians would treat this exactly the same way: There's no money to be made here. Move on.

I really have no idea from 20 years ago. My house is about the same as 12 years ago based on building codes at the time. The link below has the Ft Myers area and Scott's house.

SEA LEVEL RISE: WHAT 3 MORE FEET OF WATER LOOKS LIKE .....

I'm not a Rick Scott fan but he was elected and I'll deal with it. Going all partisan only seems to make matters worse.

Personally if anyone votes or doesn't vote for someone based on climate change issues they are a twatwaffle. Don't get me wrong. I realize these issues are important and we ALL need to be aware of them. However there are wars going on, children starving. people getting killed and a lot of other much more important issues that we need to be judging our politicians by.
