I Felt it was easier just to make a post about this release, please tell me if you run into any issues.

Here is how to use it.

Quote:

Simple Gallery Template Theme with Category Index.

1. Create your categories and Assign a category Image for each.
2. Create a page called channels (with no content in it just create and publish)
3. Add the proper thumbnail sizes Under Settings -> Media
Thumbnail 120x160 (will be used for thumbs on a gallery)
Medium Size Max Width 800, Max Height 4096

4. Create Menu and Assign to the Menu Location and Add Links (categories, tags, pages (channel page you created, its not needed as part of the theme but its a bonus)

Two types of posts, single pic and a gallery.

Gallery Posts.

1. Create Post
2. Add Media Button, Create gallery and Insert into Post.
3. Add Category and Tags
4. Set Featured Image (will be used as the thumb on the index)

Single Image Posts.

1. Create Post
2. Add Category and Tags
3. Set Featured Image (will be used as the thumb on the index as well as the full sized version for the post page)

Here are some features that will be coming

fris, ive sent you a rather long PM for a wordpress issue i had, unrelated to any of this, but never got a response. Wanted to let you know i went with another solution so for now it's solved.

A bit ontopic now about babe blogs and posting of plugs. Alot of babe blogs index thumbs for plugs link directly to the plugged gallery.
What do you think of thumbs that link to a single page with a bigger thumb on there, which links to the plug. This way you can put related posts below the big thumb on the single page.

cons:
One needs to click twice to see the plugged gallery (small thumb -> single page -> big thumb -> plugged gallery)
pros:
Time and click through on own site increases (good for google).
Related posts make visitors click more posts which cause more clicks to plugs.

Thoughts?

never seen a double click plug before. i would do some a/b testing.

I got the same thing , the header in the style.css is not 100% correct for wp.

Just ftp the file manually and unzip it int the wp-content/theme directory

will be posting an update tomorow with any bugs plus extra features, i should have fixed the style.css i forgot to add a header when moving from the dev server.

I've downloaded the theme, tried to install it but got this error

The package could not be installed. The <code>style.css</code> stylesheet doesn't contain a valid theme header.

Any idea how to fix this?

Download link from this thread (dropbox) is for the first release and it's working fine. Just use FTP to upload it.

For the new version we'll have to wait for the download link.

hey Fris, I have a problem with displaying category index thumbs - I'm using Taxonomy Images (by Michael Fields), images are assigned to the categories, but theme (channels.html) doesn't show them at all.

i have the category images enabled by default, it uses this as part of the theme, no plugins are required.

cool, let me know if you have any issues, the latest download has the updater built in so you will get notified of any updates.

if you plan on doing any changes to the templates, make a child theme so your changes wont be lost on the update.

i will make these changes and reflect this in the options panel so if no lightbox is chosen, then the attachment will be used, once you see an update in your dashboard, update.

Thanks! I've tried displaying the text in the post but does not renders it ok. I'm just asking because many of my links to the sponsors are actual text-links and if they are not displayed it means 0 chances of getting sales.

But the theme overall is just great, with a wonderful design!

ya i will fix that, i mainly made the theme just for displaying images and videos with no extra content, so thats why that was never added.
