One of the biggest reasons why you shouldn't try to "do it all"
Was just looking at some sites, in the midst of launching various mainstream sites/projects, and I realized a big reason why it's just not worth it to try and do everything yourself.
Simply put, you'll end up with a shitload of yesterday's skills that may or may not work today. It's impossible to stay on cutting edge of design AND programming AND copywriting AND marketing AND technology/tools to get shit done, and who really has time for doing all that anyways? I used to be okay at designing and programming but it was always a secondary thing I more or less did because I didn't want to bother getting someone. But these days, even someone spending $15-30 on a nice WP theme would result in a much better site than anything I could put together. Sure there's often some skill involved even after getting the theme in putting together a nice site, but even trends in what people expect on sites they go to and what works to keep visitors etc. keeps changing. I think when you're doing a lot of different things, you reach a point where the learning just doesn't happen as easily. It could be getting older, it could be losing motivation to learn it, it could simply be lack of time to devote to it, but sooner or later it's a struggle to stay on the cutting edge. So yea, don't take on the world yourself. Figure out what you're good at and are motivated to stay on top of (don't assume you know everything - constantly learn), keep at THAT and get others to do all that other shit.

Do you really like the poo, or are you just saying it because you saw it?
