Any wrist watch collectors?

I am considering collecting some watches.
Similar to collecting stamps, rare coins, gold, wines etc.
Their value appreciate faster than inflation.

Anyone here have much experience with this?

Go Rolex and nothing else. Some other very nice brands will hold some value but don't have enough demand for pre-owned to get the value increase.

The Rolexes you buy today at let say 6-7K$ will retail 9-10 in few years, so you might be able to resell for a profit at at worst for the same price you paid if you took good care of them.

Most watches don't appreciate in value. I think there would be better investment opportunities you could do, unless this is strictly for a hobby.

Watches can certainly hold their value against inflation.... If you are prepared to spend at least $8k or more per watch. Cheaper watches don't really hold their value. Be sure to have and keep all of the packaging and paperwork.... everything.

I would stay completely away from diamonds, (no offense meant Grapesoda). They are NOT holding their value.... The diamond business is a mugs game for suckers.

I collect watches. Not to amass wealth in the future, simply because I love high end timepieces and enjoy wearing them

I have the following:

-Omega Speedmaster Professional
-Sinn U2 (fully tegimented)
-Archimede Pilot (pvd)
-a few others not worth mentioning.

also, you guys are wrong about Rolex on two accounts. One, not every Rolex is going to appreciate value. Two, Rolex isn't the only brand that will appreciate value.

I don't care about any of that as I own watches because I enjoy wearing them.

For a while I considered collecting the James Bond watches, but for me it'd just be one more thing to take up space.

1-

I love Tag too, but there not enough demand for them in Pre-Owned market for them to gain in value over time, so why spend 9-10k on a watch that won't appreciate when you can buy a Rolex that will?... I don't buy them for resale, but I know IF at some point I want to sell one, then I will not loose. The keyword here is demand

Bought a Tag back in the day at the same time I bought the Yachmaster, wasn't wearing it anymore and the few offer I got were kinda insulting, so I gave it to Patty, Chick dig big men's watches now, so...

2-

Yes you ed to keep them in MINT condition, but of course you wear them. But you don't want to keep it to do that brake job on your car or work around in the backyard...

Mechanical watches only. I recently sold a large collection of Seikos and others. Look for multi-dials, multi-colored dials, the Seiko Bellmatic will bring you some big $. Stay away from Seiko Divers as they are still in production. Seiko No. 5 movement is basically worthless as it was the workingman's watch and they made a gazillion of them. Rolex is OK if you know what you are doing but do not buy late models from dealers as you will get it up the ass.

Flyer's watches are good but only and let me repeat, "ONLY!" mechanical movements.

If it takes a battery, ignore it.

Same here. I don't give a fuck about reselling them. I've been collecting watches for some time now and I would never give them up. I like drawing attention to my slender wrists with a fatass timepiece on it, because women love that shit.
