Rice drops bid for Secretary of State

What is the White House hiding over Libya and Ambassador Stevens?

Maybe the rebels responsible for his death were previously funded by the CIA..

They just want this whole story to go away.

You have to admit, this theory is pretty interesting and makes sense. Take time to listen because it goes deep.

WH is not hiding anything they want Rice to be SoS but republicans claim she were dishonest in statements about Benghazi, saying it were not a terrorist attack maybe she miss spoke, she didn't know better or lied.

Wouldn't be the first time someone named Rice went on to be SoS even if they lied before or miss spoke. (See Condo on Iraq)
The bigger picture is that the next probable candidate is John Kerry and that would leave an open Senate seat where the Repubs have a chance to gain the seat and get closer to 51 in the senate.

Benghazi have been an issue for R to attack D where there really weren't much to attack on which the election showed.

If Rice were a senator from a state where the seat would not swing like Kerry, I doubt you would see this anti Rice campaign, the Republicans is just A LOT better of playing tactical and dirty politics than Dems.

I don't know how the Republicans have the balls to start fights like this, when they just got their asses handed to them in an election. To top it off, their target is a black woman -- and a Rhodes scholar who is very qualified for the job. They haven't learned a damn thing.

Take this from more than a month ago:

Quote:
It is rumored that President Obama plans to nominate U.N. ambassador Susan Rice as Hillary Clinton's successor as Secretary of State. Since there is a history of black women named Rice running the State Dept., you might think her confirmation would be a formality. No way. Senate Republicans are talking about a comment she made shortly after Ambassador Stevens was killed in Libya and acting like she is a new Benedict Arnold. They are openly praising Sen. John Kerry to the moon as a better appointee. Apparently he improved drastically since 2004, since he wasn't getting many kudos from them then. What they really mean, of course, is "We don't give a hoot who the Secretary of State is, but we would sure like a special election for a Senate seat in Massachusetts since we think Scott Brown could win it." But saying this out loud is considered gauche in Senate circles.

This is not the first time and this won't be the last time the opposing party blocks a nomination (Supreme Court, Ambassadorship, Secretary positions....). It's part of the US political process, if they smell a filibuster, they usually move on unless the President in charge really wants that nominee.

--and also, the three amigos who are in charge of the witch hunt are 3 of the biggest supporters of Scott Brown. It stinks and is pretty transparent. McCain and him are practically butt buddies.

Actually Rachel Maddow spends most of every show exposing Republican nonsense -- and it could be called liberal propaganda --but is it propaganda if it's actually true?

This is all pretty heavily politically motivated. The republicans want John Kerry to have the job. He likely would be fine as SoS, but more importantly it would open his senate seat up in the next election. The republicans could run Scott Brown again, who narrowly lost in the last election and hope to take that seat back.

If Rice become SoS Kerry runs for re-election and there is a zero percent chance of the republicans beating him.
