When will the Republicans "Get it"?

They keep putting forward no hopers to win the Presidential election.

OK they got through with GWB, courtesy of a BJ in the Oval Office and 9/11. After that they picked an old man with a moron of a running mate. This time with America in deep trouble, they pick a man who ships jobs to China, buys and strips businesses putting people out of work, a man who can't come clean with his tax returns and to put the cherry on the top of the cake for Democrats inherited his wealth. And he was the best of the bunch.

A man who is earning less than than $30k or husband and wife who earn less than $50K together. Don't want to hear from him knowing he's part of the problem. Minte, Baddog, Robbie, etc do, so does Trump. AND they are the problem when it comes to persuading the ones who pay their taxes straight out of their wages every month or need food stamps to eat. Or just ordinary working class Americans.

Yes Robbie a man who see the deductions come out of his wage check every month does get it. He's not a man with an accountant lowering his taxes. Yes Minte a family that had a Dad who was laid off so the boss could ship his jobs to the 3rd World, does get it when you say food stamps should be abolished.

And they all get it when you talk about Government waste, that keeps them in a job or fed. Yes they all get it when you want to move back to the previous Health Care system, to save you money.

And when a moron like Trump goes on TV and tells Americans he can throw away $5 million to see the Presidents college records. When his man is hiding his tax returns. That's votes in the bag for Obama.

Repubs, flame away and prove you don't get it still.

No one admits to being republican and they all claim to have voted for Gary Johnson.

I was watching the election coverage on CNN and there was one republican strategist who said that this is a strong message to the party that they need to make some changes. They need to be more involved in women's rights and they need to take a different stance when it comes to minorities and immigration or they will never win the white house again.

I think we are about to see a good old fashioned republican civil war.

Thanks I forgot the anti abortion stance. Also the Mormon thing. They need to lighten up on on the "God will save us." message.

I saw the campaign leaders blaming the American public for "Not understanding." Fucking idiots. A guy laid off, family relying on Social Health, someone getting a small wage gets it better than they do. Micheal Douglas summed up Repubs problem beautifully in a film.

"Their problem isn't that they don't get it. Their problem is, THEY CAN'T SELL IT."

Well not using people Palin, Romney Ryan, can't even remember the names of he other guys trying to get nominated to stand for the race as a Repub. I remember Romney was one of the better ones.

This is from one of their page.

Obama is the American dream. Romney is the American nightmare and does more to undermine for Americans than Obama ever will. The Repubs talk as if getting up the ladder or even staying on it, is exclusively for them. Well those who have or had rich Dads.

The republican strategist on CNN was a woman and she started a discussion that made some great points. She said that the republicans are never going to be pro-life. Nor are they going to become pro-gay rights. However, they took a step back in this campaign and many of them seemed to be anti-contraception for women and there were a few who even seemed like they had no sympathy for women who had been raped.

Those types of attitudes are going to get the party nowhere. She was saying that those who want to take the party and the country back to how things were in the 1950's are just going to hold the party back. Things are different now and they party needs to realize that. They are facing a new generation that is more liberal when it comes to social issues and so far are showing themselves to vote democrat. They are seeing a quickly growing non-white population and they are seeing states like Virginia and Colorado starting to have more and more moderates and left leaning independents moving into them and changing the landscape of the electoral map.

If they don't address these issues they will have a lot of trouble get presidents elected.

Listening to the campaigners moan why their man didn't get it, was just revealing how deep their problem is.

These are some of their statements.

They don't understand how bad the financial situation is. The people on the bottom rungs don't want to hear how bad it is from someone at the top. Who is wearing a suit that costs more than they spend to feed their family for a month.

Romney has a proven track record. Of stripping out companies and sending jobs over seas. This was their reply to the comment that he didn't give any explanations of how his plan would work.

He balanced the budget in his State. A State that won't vote for him.

The Democrat spent $1 billion on negative message. Like they spent nothing.

Putting up Romney is about as stupid as putting up a Mafia Godfather for the position of Police Commissioner. The problem is they don't see it.

Man, they said the same shit last election too after they ran the retarded chick and McFlip. The problem with Republicans is they are delusional and can't seem to wrap their heads around reality.

On one side they are supported by the Christian Right (aka Tea Party). They are people that claim to be religious, but sure as hell don't act like it when they treat the less fortunate like dogs. They are the ones that yell out things like "you hate America" because you disagree with them but then are the first to try and take someone else's rights away.

IE they say one thing then do the exact opposite as if the rules don't apply to them.

Then you have the other side of the Republicans.. The ones that try to claim they are fiscal conservatives that claim they want responsibility in govt spending and blame Democrats for everything wrong with the economy. Meanwhile they fail to react to Reagan or the two Bush's that led us down this path and fail to realize that the last 3 Democrats have all kept the national deficit under 40% increase while the last 3 Republicans have been over 60+%.

Any fool can easily see Republicans out spend the Democrats by a extremely large amount, yet will not accept that you have to actually "PAY" for that spending. These are people that claim they want govt responsibility but then act like a teenager girl with her first credit card from daddy.

See the truth is they don't care about govt responsibility on spending they just want low taxes for themselves and don't give a shit what happens later or who has to pay for it. Yet they run amok at the mouth bitching about the left's spending. Again any fool can look at the numbers and see who really spends the most.

IE again they say one thing then do the exact opposite as if the rules don't apply to them.

This is the problem with the Right.. They just can't seem to grasp reality and they will repeat the same mistakes in another 4 years offering up some other moronic choice for president.

The truly sad part was with an 11% approval rating the Right retains control of congress. One can only hope this election could be a wake up call and the House Republicans will actually do their fucking jobs, but reality means they will likely be just as useless as the last four years.

Anyone that actually thought Romney had a chance simply doesn't' face reality. The electoral voter pretty much showed what was going to happen on Nov 6th, weeks ago. You didn't need a crystal ball only a bit on common sense.

Is Romney's problem that he surrounds himself with a minority and rarely speaks to the majority?

Still look at the popular vote. 48% to 52%. Obama v McCain 52.9% to 45.7%. Yes folks 45% of Americans were voting for Palin as VP and possible President.

Can anyone here explain that to me, because in the rest of the world she wouldn't get elected as a dog catcher. Who gives a fuck if she's a Soccer Mom, she's clearly not fit for purpose.

Many talk about voting out the politicians with vested interest. Yet is 45% of American were willing to vote for McCain/Palin they're smoking the wrong pipe.

Yes he is an old fool - but on this one he is spot on.

Obama has had a torrid time as president, horrible economy, mass unemployment, huge deficit etc.

But the republicans but up a candidate that was so alien to the majority of voters (and he was the best of the bunch !) that they still could not win.

As an outside observer it reminds me of the UK conservative party putting up candidates like Ian Duncan Smith when they lurched to the right.

I agree with you totally except on this point. They do know the debt will have to be repaid, the problem is who they want to repay it.

We saw that clearly in so many posts here. Did any of their suggested cuts effect them, did they offer to take back tax rates to Clinton levels? Did they want less spending on Farm or Oil Subsidies to keep the price of food or gas down?

No their cats were in places that wouldn't decrease their life style. Minte who's one of the top 1% wants the less able to repay the debt. He's sitting very nicely in his mansion, his kids and Grand kids are assured a great future. Does he think the poor should get food stamps? No because 2% buy drugs with them.

I single out him as a supreme example. Bit unfair because there are so many others.

Thank you Romney wins even when he loses the man is worth 250 million. lol He went out like a gentleman with class last night.

The republican party has to start calling out the extremists be it pundits or Michelle Bachmann types. These people say crazy shit and get a pass. That's how Chris Christie could win in 2016 because he is the type of guy to say that's fucking stupid. Most of the country is in the middle, they may lean alittle right or alittle left but they are in the center. Now we hear the extremes and they are so loud we assume that's the whole country but its not even close.

I think it will take 1 more fiasco for our Republicans to get it. They have an issue and a group of people who share their values but will not vote for them. If Romney would have articulated a decent immigration policy in regard to our illegals I think he would have won the election. He also would have started a civil war in the party.

With his support of a bill that pulled a round of ammo off the market.( I believe it was Armour piercing round) This cost him the NRA vote. His also supports abortion in cases of rape and incest. I don't think he can get nominated. The voters in the primaries are the crazies

Even more than that, they need to actually mean it...and I don't think that evolution is going to happen overnight. You can appear to be empathetic to the issues that affect many people, but they'll know if it's just an act.

I really believe it'll be long time before they're in the White House again. The racial/ethnic makeup of the country is changing, and they won't have any desire to vote in representatives who look like rich people who only care about other people in their country club.

Assuming the predictions of a recovery in the next 4 years don't come true. Maybe the Repubs are hoping for more hard times.

Any Presidential candidate who has to appeal to the NRA maniacs is going to be a tough sell on the rest. WTF do people need Armour Piercing bullets for?

To get nominated a Republican has to appeal to the people who believe owning an arsenal of fully automatic weapons with armour piercing bullets for shooting abortionists, is an American Right. And believe they can pray to God to save America.

They could have won easily if they'd allowed Ron Paul through, but they used voter fraud to prevent him.

Chris Christie will be a strong candidate come 2016.

Problem with the Republicans is that to win the nomination you have to really flip to being a strong righty, then by election time you need to ween yourself back to the middle. Romney wasn't able to.

When they stop running inheritors and sons of "gentry".

McCain - Father, four star Admiral and Commander in Chief Pacific Command
Romney - Father, Governor and Chairman American Motors, Republican candidate president 1968
Bush the Dumb - You know who his father was, Bush the Not the Worst But

Bob Dole was OK but he was 73 and running against Clinton.

If you are the party where hard work and responsibility blah blah blah then show us one of these strapping fellows who blasted out of poverty through hard work and a steely blue eyed gaze, etc etc. If you run only inheritors who can't even match what their dad did then....

One US Republican strategist they had on CBC during last night's election coverage said he believes that some in the party are using this (this election, this weak attempt at the presidency with Romney) to set up Jeb Bush for a 2016 run (and presumably... win).

Chris Christie is finished in the Republican party - he'll go the born again Democrat route.

For a long time I have been saying that the biggest success the republican party has ever had is the their ability to repackage the same bullshit and sell it to the same people over and over again.

Whenever they are not in power they run their campaigns on lowering taxes, balancing the budget and reducing the size of the government yet they never deliver that. Bush may have actually lowered taxes, but he increased the size of the government and the debt by leaps and bounds and the rest of them end up raising taxes, spending a ton of money and growing the size of the government and they still repackage that bullshit again and run on it again and it works.

This election might have signaled that while that same shit will work on the base, the independents (which is the fasting growing group in the nation) aren't really buying it.

TBH I don't know. We are a registered corporation the tax rate is 15% of profits. Our personal taxes as an employee of the company were 40%. The company employed 8 people at it's height and that was 32% on top of their wages.

I never regarded taxes as "lost" money. It's money paid to keep the wheels of the country turning. As I point out in replies to those who talk about "waste". It's only waste when it goes out of the country. This is the lie of the "trickle down" theorists.

It's waste when it goes to a bank in the Caymans, pert is waste on a BMW, Chines toys, etc. It's not waste when it goes to build the country around you, or to the needy who go spend it in Ralphs. Trickle up and trickle around works better than trickle down.

Yes some of it is badly spent. And that's the real problem.

I honestly believe the Republican party threw this election, just like they did with McCain. Seriously - Someone who left the Governor's office with a 34% approval rating should not even be considered a candidate for President.

I'm guessing they already have someone picked to run for the next election and he or she is going to be a powerhouse.

I don't think they threw it, but I think there were some candidates who simply chose not to run because they knew that the electoral math still favored Obama and things are slowly improving so they just decided to stay out of it until 2016 when there won't be an incumbent.

Also, part of the republican's problems is that any candidate has to move so far to the right to appease the base and win the primary that it can ultimately hurt them in the election.

Bush actually did decently with Latinos. In 2004 he got about 44% of the Latino vote. Romney will likely end up with about 25%. Any republican candidate out there is going to have to do better with minorities if they want to win and that was going to be difficult in general, and very hard against Obama.

Unfortunately yes - balcks and latinos are increasing in numbers so it will give more and more edge to dems...

I think it comes to the person who can get through the Primaries, will find it very tough to get elected. Whoever the candidates have to appeal to, the demographics of the Primaries are too far to the right for the rest of America to buy into.

They are getting a lot of votes because most of their base is not voting on reality but voting on what they want to believe. I was at the 7-11 yesterday getting gas and some right wing christian blow hard was in there bitching about Obama being the fucking anti-Christ.

On voting day I was grabbing something to eat at a fast food joint, and over heard two old dudes rehashing those lies about the UN. He's like you can't trust that guy, I read he was working with the UN to take over the country.

I mean seriously this is the un-educated vomit that came out of their mouths. It's one thing to see the wackos of the internet post that kinda shit o a forum, but to hear that kind of shit out of some regular looking person just shows you how stupid a lot of people are.

This was in FL as I'm on vacation at the moment, but I bet I could have found a thousand more that would repeat the same stupid shit. These are the Fox news viewers, these are the christian right that read all those fucking ridiculous chain mails and listen to their "god loving" preachers whom say Obama is the anti-christ. They actually believe this shit and there are a lot of them.

It has nothing to do with common sense or what is good for the country, but rather hearing what they want to hear because they are scared into thinking something that is not based on reality.

The absolute worse of the worst are the ones in the Republican party that go along with this shit, because using this base of moronic simpletons is the only way they can get guys elected to get their lower taxes.
