Well no spaces will get you listed higher in non-conventional search engines like google, but most other serach engines will not make a difference.

I gather that domains with hyphens are less desireable. It is mostly a matter of type-ins.

The preference for some people is to have both.

You use: your-site-name.com as the domain for your site.

You use: yoursitename.com to redirect traffic to your site.

That way you get the search engine benefits and the type in benefits.
