they missed the boat on this. they have been talking about this particular car for 10 years or so. the hype is over, and i feel the competition has passed them with hybrids

Hybrids are... yawn.

Even if it were a good vehicle, I don't want to purchase any more Government Motors cars. I don't like that brand.

I don't understand... You mean to tell me that Chevy (and Ford and even Toyota) can't make better electric cars than these upstarts? What's the problem here?

I agree!! Tesla's are awesome. Can't wait to get one (hopefully next spring).

I have been looking at the Volt for a while. It's a Nice Car, but it's barely 1-step up from a Hybrid.

Hybrids suck because there is very little economy boost to these cars. They use electricity to "assist" a shitty gasoline motor. DUMB!! They are expensive, they still pollute, and in my opinion are nothing more than a band-aid to the big problem.

The Chevy Volt is better. The Volt is an electric car that gets an assist when needed by a gas engine. But instead of the gas engine powering the wheels like a regular hybrid, it instead turns a generator which charges the batteries. SMARTER!

The best though are the Tesla's. Very forward thinking. They drop gasoline (and all the oil, weight, transmission and other weight) and went 100% electric. I love it. Can't wait to get one.

I can't believe that the Volt is the best the U.S. can do on the Electric Car market.

The Nissan Leaf is fully electric and their commercials here in Vegas on the radio actually make fun of the Volt for not being a "real" electric car.

The problem is the price. If the Chevy volt were $17-$20K it is a game changer because the average person could afford it. At $40K it is just another overpriced car that most people can't afford.

How much extra does it cost just so you can save one gallon of gas each time out.

I think so too. But The Volt is an ugly box too.

The Tesla's are freakin' awesome. I like the Tesla Roadster.

But it sure does seem like Chevy could at least MATCH something like the Leaf and put it in a small "vette looking" body that could be cool to be seen in like Tesla.

It's fucked up that electric cars were everywhere in the late 1800's...and now we "can't" make them. (new york city had an entire fleet of electric taxis in 1897)

thats just the beginning, when you are suckered in by the government backing of a hybrid, you're told it's good for the enviroment, that were helping the enviroment as your government, Bullshit\\

http://blogs.computerworld.com/tech_...cs_dont_add_up

or they just speak to your wallet speaking of the gas you'll save, with the money the government has spent on getting those high MPG of the new hybrids, I mean they get up in the 40's for MPG right? Unless you drive it like yhou stole it, which has been proven it sucks down gas like a regular V6 or compare it to a VW that had a deisel in it during the 80's that got better MPG.

Though out history, people have had better ideas that the government had been paid off to not let go into production, look at the Tucker, the car was pure genius for the time and all the great things that car incorporated, later became part of every car made.
