So... what's upcoming in adult?

I kinda feel weird about the state of the industry now. I'm kinda at an impasse with my life. I don't want to continue shooting content. I don't want to continue working with models. There's not a lot of things I consider to be significantly worthwhile anymore.

I started a new mainstream business over a year ago that actually does pretty well from a profitability standpoint but the people I've contracted are retarded incompetent fuckwits who I want to murder.

I want to walk away from adult, but it's hard to walk away from a 10+ year investment. Recruiting models seems to be getting more and more difficult, despite the fact that the economy is supposedly not doing all that well. You'd think it would be the opposite, right?

I've been considering selling my web properties. But I feel like the brands are quite valuable and I'd do far better if I just sunk some time and money into developing them properly.

I see clearly now that the membership-based paysite model is dead, and my traffic and sales have slowly diminished. People have lost interest. Clip stores I believe are the future, but I am having difficulty with formulating a solid strategy for how to obtain the talent I'm seeking. It seems as if the tube sites have such a huge advantage because they've got such a massive captive audience. They're not simply a destination to spend money (paysite, clip store, VOD, etc), they're a destination to surf and therefore have a much tighter grasp on the market and ability to obtain user-generated content.

For the past year of my life I've mostly been contemplating new opportunities, and wondering what I should be doing with my time... But I can only take so many vacations without going insane.

What do you think is the next big money maker?

The extreme flushing fetish will be taking the web by storm, likely using the new and exciting .xxx extension...

I should have expected this...

Why is it that whenever business threads are started on GFY, it ends in a scene that parallels a fraternity hazing?

Check out the Android and iOS app development options. If you can come up with a cool idea it can be worth millions.

Go talk to Adultking, he says the adult industry is doing better than ever.

The problem is Tubes have nearly all the traffic and they don't spend money to join paysites.

If you don't want to shoot content or deal with models, then you're going to have to buy it in and at todays margins forget about it.

Try opening a Tube site and pushing penis pills and dating sites which have no girls.

In fact a free dating site might be the way to go and start as an affiliate and built towards selling ad space.

Otherwise concentrate on another trade.

Plenty of money... if all you are getting is plankton you might have to rethink your strategy... Many different kinds of whales live on plankton. Get a bigger net and it all adds up.

+1 there is plenty of money out there for the people with the right mindset.

xenigo, sounds like you may be burnt out, it happens to the best of us. I get that feeling every few years. Every industry is under pressure these days so its the new normal, we all have to get used to it, making money will not always be a bed of roses...

Visit a cancer ward at a hospital to get a new perspective on life and to see some people who have a real reason to feel "There's not a lot of things I consider to be significantly worthwhile anymore."

I hope you figure it all out soon

Because people that can predict the future are being paid a fortune to do so and are not wont to share this with someone who posts saying they want to leave adult.

I guess.

Jessy Kang outlined a pretty interesting idea in a thread at the Bitcoin forum (here:
bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=20984.msg279964#msg279964) BONUS: the thread itself is a hilarious death-by-ignorance of some guy who clearly has little to no experience with business online, or the adult business, who had a "brilliant" idea to get rich and just needed a few investors. Lose yourself in the love, but read the linked post first.
