I haven't really got it with ip-sorter. Seems like a Maxmind with an ASP twist. Company and product presentation doesn't really give anything out. Is it your own software or are you just making Maxmind more user friendly? What makes ip-sorter worth the extra dough compared to Maxmind?

![]() Maxmind does GEO-IP right? Can't remember off hand but I use geo-ip. There is a free version if you do not mind the accuracy rate dropping some.
I use it within PHP and it works nice. Their site is shitty on presentation though. I thought it was a place to get 7-11 coffee at first ![]() Mogul Mogul Networks Inc.

Lion,
Yea, ip-sorter is an application that uses Maxmind's database. In terms of accuracy, the data is the same, our product if you like is a layer that sits on top of Maxmind's data. It makes it much easier (in my unbiased opinion ![]() Maxmind out of the box is the data, and a set of APIs to access it. IP-Sorter takes it the stage forward, and implements the data in a product that webmaster (and indeed programmer) can use. Its a CGI based application coded 100% in C, aimed at high performance loads. In addition to providing the user with a GUI to admin the routing, and a high performance "out" .cgi program, ip-sorter provides raw/unique stats on the rules created. We also provide a compiled shell script that intermediate level programmers will find easy to use in their own scripts (http://www.ip-sorter.com/tour/extend.htm). You can use the free database with our product, at a reduced price of $200. When you purchase a 'full' ip-sorter license @ $300, you are getting the $150/year db from Maxmind, and our software for $150. We work with Maxmind, not really competing against them - you'll see if you check the ChangeLog in the C API several bug fixes / performance improvements made by a guy called Chris Gibbs - one of the programmers who wrote ip-sorter. I think that $150 extra on the premium database for our product is a good price, even if you are already an accomplished C programmer. If you wanna hit me up richard AT ip-sorter or icq 41012160 i'll give you access to the online demo and you can play about with it yourself (open to all). Richard.

You should have shown somewhere where you are sending the traffic to...
I didn't like it: tons of pop-ups and an auto installing dailer |

The CC processors disqualify the traffic EVEN if the user has a Credit Card and wanted to sign up with your sponsors paysite. So.. now that the processor is scrubbing the foreign traffic out of your traffic stream and throwing it away, you bitch because someone comes along and finds away to convert it and PAY YOU FOR IT????? If the user can't pay with a credit card .. how else IS he going to pay? Keep throwing that foreign traffic away! ![]() Think before you post. |

I dont think ScrewedUp is slagging the concept, rather than the method.
With TrafficJuicer, you dont know where you are sending traffic to... for instance, you might be sending the german surfers to an activex dialer page with tripple chained exit pop, which he might not like. Or perhaps to a sponsor that is on their shit list for some reason. Perhaps thats something you can add to the site, a list of URLs that the foreign traffic gets sent to.

Do people really care where completely unproductive shit traffic is sent?
Traffic that they will NEVER make a dime off no matter how long and hard they send to a sponsor? TrafficJuicer "makes $omething from nothing". I just don't understand why someone would pay someone else to sort traffic when they themselves could be paid by another service who does the exact same thing. wierd. Kinda like the counter thing back in the day. |

If its completely unproductive shit traffic, how can TrafficJuicer make money from it?
![]() They pay to sort it themselves, because they want to sell their German traffic to a German dialer company direct, and their UK traffic to an SMS company direct, and have their own exit chains, or other marketing gimics. Its not like they are going to pay for software to sort the traffic, and then send that sorted traffic to the same sponsor! #1 reason because they have control over where its sent and what is advertised. ![]()

re: traffic juicer
I don't like that fact that I can't choose which countries I want to send away. My western europe traffic converts like mad. I need to get rid of the middle east and deep asia traffic. That shit sucks. Oh well, gotta do it myself. ![]() |

I think there's room in the market for TrafficJuicer and ip-sorter. Ip Sorter let's the webmaster have more control over what goes where and who it goes to. They make money buy selling it as a service to webmasters. TrafficJuicer is for webmasters that might not know where to send their German, Japanese, etc.. Traffic or don't want to pay for a service like this. We make money by negotiating deals for higher payouts (and/or commisions) with foreign sponsors and constantly re-evaluating who's paying the best rates etc. and constantly juggling the traffic for the webmasters. Then paying the webmasters directly. |
