Is There A Norm For Blogs

There is quite a lot of experience here at GFY. So maybe you all can tune me into what should a blog look like/ How should it function?

As you surf around to different blogs you can find a full spectrum of different looks, methods, presentations of content, ads, links and anything and everything else you can imagine.

So Is there a norm that blogs ought to be centered around? My latest creation is http ://teenpussyblog.com. It is a simple blog being filled with sponsor content and nice articles about the content. At this time it is not filled with ads and will never be over powered with them. The central focus of this blog is as it is now and will grow in like content and as traffic grows different ad content will be added in the side bars and across the top.

Is this type of blog, one that has a chance of being a measurable amount of success as it ages? Or should the design and focus be changed to improve it?

Any input and direction on this will be much appreciated..

There is no "norm" for a blog as such - it is a good thing for variety that a lot of blogs look and feel different. I took a look at your blog and it looks really good so there is no need to change the design - nice clear lay-out, easy to navigate, etc . . Here is a clickable link for it:-

TEEN PUSSY BLOG

I do have a few suggestions to improve it though:-
1. Add in some hand-written posts yourself to all the sponsors content - it will help with SEO.
2. Make sure you add in the Google Sitemaps plug-in as this also helps with SEO (it basically tells Google every time your blog updates).
3. You may want to look at restricting the length of some of the blog summary posts on the main pages - the second post "Judith and Kay Chance Encounter" for example is REALLY long. While it certainly doesn't hurt from an SEO point of view to have plenty of words on the main pages, it does hurt from a "look, feel and useability" point of view. You can easily restrict the lengths of the initial summary by adding <!--more--> at the section of your text where you want the summary to end (the person then clicks the "more info" text to read the full post and the home page looks a bit neater).
Hope that helps

The most important thing about a blog is that it is updated frequently. A good way to be successful in bloggin is by posting hand written posts with a lot of Keywords (see the prebious post by PureCharlie). You will than generate unique content. When you choose the topics of your posts choose models that are known on the net, so that you'll be more likely to get SE traffic on the model names.

The real trick is to keep bloggin and building up unique content. For a starting blog I would try to do at least a post a day.

Good luck

Points taken and appreciated

I have wondered about posts being so long and pushing other things down so far. I will work towards restricting length and making posts more uniform.

I have written a couple posts myself and once on a line of thought keywords get forgotten in hopes of making a good story.

Good points Thank You!!

Definitely trim down that header image so it's not so huge.

I mean, it's a great pic, but it takes up just over half the length of my browser window.

I have considered that over and over again. But my logic keeps coming back to what do visitors do with thumb nails. They open them to view large pics. That pic at the top shows the quality of the pics you can view on the site.

I agree with you but at the same time there is something to having a screen full of nice looking babe in your face as you walk in the door.

One of the first sites I ever put up was youngluv.com the opening page is a wall to wall pic. I made it too large for the average viewer because I made the site to look good on my 22" monitor. I have always been going to fix the site because everything is too big on it. But the darn thing has steady slowly increasing traffic that shows click throughs to many of my other sites.

Again I agree with you but at present have some stats that show that I have either traffic that does not mind it or likes it..

If the stats stagnate then I will do just as you suggest.

Point noted..

I don't see a problem with the size of the pic in your header - I quite like it actually and, as you say, it gives an impression of quality. Remember - pictures speak a thousand words

The problem is that you like the pic, but perhaps you have visitors that aren't into blondes (I know its a crazy thought).. By offering them more images to view at first glance the change that they'll see something they like is bigger and so is your chance on makin a sale.

A good blog is a blog that gets updated frequently with interesting texts, pics and links. Good design that's easy on the eyes is important.

I like the pic at the top. I think the blog looks nice. There are so many blogs these days that have stuff thrown all over them, yours is nice and simple. We try to keep ours simple too. See our SinfullySexyMilfs Blog!
