strange link showing in my stats

I have a site that normally gets about 3 or 400 uniques a day, but recently that number has really jumped. I am now seeing close to 2K uniques a day, but they are coming from a strange link. It looks like internal link, but its not anything that i put up.

it shows that the hits are coming from

mysitename (dot) com/imprss/777ads.php

i have no idea what imprss/777ads.php is, or how those links are showing up

any ideas on what is causing this? i dont mind all the traffic, but is it real traffic, or some sort of attempt at a traffic bomb or something by a competing webmaster

any ideas appreciated

Have you taken a look inside the 777ads.php file yet? If it isn't something you put there I'd be worried about a possible compromise.

thats just it... there is no 777ads.php file on my server....

did you redirect anything with .htaccess?
